I will write a review soon but wanted to tell those of you that are looking for a one night stay on STT and are considering The Best Western Emerald Beach, we were very pleased with our one night stay there.

The views from the room (all of the rooms face the beach) are gorgeous, the staff is very nice, the rooms were nice (not 5 star or anything but much nicer than The Holiday Inn and the Hotel Mafolie where we have previously stayed).

We ended up going back there for lunch the day we were leaving because of the view from the restaurant.

We would definitely stay there again.

I enjoy the beach there quite often and agree that the Hotel does a good job and is always clean, organized and friendly.

You may want to check out --- www.savelindbergbay.com -- the current plan is to dump the spoils from the STT harbor dredging in Emerald Bay to accommodate larger cruise ships at the WICO dock -- this will certainly disturb the beauty of the beach - destroy a live ocean floor - insure turbid water - and likely have unpleasant, if not toxic material , in the dumped materials.

Please encourage anyone who cares, even a little, about the VI to be part of the opposition to stop the dumping plan that puts Emerald Bay in extreme jeopardy.

We had a one night stay at the emerald beach resort in December and although the room was large and clean we found the "resort" lacking. It is convenient to the airport and if you need a place to sleep it should do, but that is about all you should expect.

As I mentioned when I made the post, I was referring only to a one-night stay. I can tell you of the previous one night stays, it far surpassed the others.

We were not expecting (nor did we want) a resort, but I can tell you that if I had my choice of staying there or the Westin (which we have also stayed at), I would opt for Emerald Beach.

I would stay there more than one night if need be too. It may be that I had no expectations other than a place to sleep till we could head over to STJ, but I loved the view from our room, the bar and restaurant right there on the beach, pool looked nice but didn't use it. The rooms at our previous stays were adequate but our room at the BW was much nicer and the place was much cleaner.

The only downfall I saw was that we were on the second floor and there were no elevators so we had to drag our rolling bags up the steps. Fortunately, they weren't too heavy.

The staff there was amazingly friendly and helpful too.

ExitZero - thanks for the info about savelindbergbay. I saw a banner there about it and meant to check it out.

Any help ---- especially from afar - which dilutes the perception of local interests forwarding an agenda -- is Greatly appreciated!!!
