Snorkel charter info needed

We'll be in STJ starting July 20. WooHoo! We're with another couple, and wonder if any forum members had recommendations for a half or full-day snorkel sail only. We've been to the BVI's last time, so we really want a snorkel-only sail to great snorkel spots around STJ. Our want list includes small group (6-8 people max if possible). We're not picky about whether it's a sailing vessel or power boat. Any suggestions on who to contact, recommendations, experiences?

we had a great trip in april with Flyaway charters. They are out of Coral Bay. We went to the BVI, but I am sure they will take you where ever you want to go.

we have sailed with captain bob, Spree, 2x. He is a really nice guy and very reasonable. $75 per person (he provides water and beer, you bring your own lunch) Both time it was just the 2 of us (well once it was 4 with the kids)...

I plan on calling him again on our next trip...just google him and you will find his phone #..

We just did that last week but on a powerboat. We went with Bob and Tropic Power Boat Rentals (http://tropicpowerboatrentals.com/).

We wanted to see places to snorkel around St. John that were not accessible by foot or car. In addition to taking us to 4 snorkel spots, he showed us where to snorkel the different bays that we had never snorkeled. We had a great time with him and learned alot.

I can't help you if you want to do it on a sailboat, but I can tell you that we needed the full day to go all of the way around the island.

It was awesome to see all of St. John from the water!

Great! So far, thanks to all, those are 3 great suggestions, and I'm checking into all 3 via web/email and prob. a phone call. If there's any other boat/captain we should know about, please weigh in!

Thanks

I would highly recommend using Captain John Brandi with Palm Tree Charters. We've used him 2 years running & he is a great guy, with an awesome boat & tons of stories! We just got back from St. John a couple of weeks ago & had John take us to The Indians for a snorkel dive. What an awesome dive! He knows all the great spots![/u][/i]

Are you looking for a "sail" or a "power boat" - if it's a power boat (sorry I thought you wanted sail only) Capt Brandi Palm Tree Charters and Josh with Lion in Da Sun are both excellent. If you want to leave out of Coral Bay Truman, Flyaway Charters is an excellent choice for "power"

Thanks to all so far, esp. Pia! I've added those last 3 you recommended to the list to contact.

I'm leaning much more toward the power boat instead of sail option. For a group that wants as much snorkeling time as possible, it seems we'll spend a little less time "sailing" to each snorkel spot with a power boat, and have consequently more time to snorkel.

So if anyone else has any more recommendations or info, let me know.

This forum is great!
Thanks, all.
