Been to STT twice but have never rented a car. Would a Garmin GPS systems work well on STT to get me from the airport to Sapphire Beach? I'm kind of nervous about driving on the left and won't be able to refer to a map while driving.

Probably not -- if you are talking about the voice command function.

Our Garmin could not acquire a signal while we were on St Thomas or St John last month.

I have an easy set of directions that you could follow (I created a Word document for friends to help them get to our place at Sapphire from airport). But I am brand new to this forum and completely unaware if I can attach a word document to this reply (don't think I can). If you would like me to email them to you, just let me know - I'd be happy to do it. Cheers, Ken.

You could just copy and paste the text (from the word doc) into a reply -

We used our Garmin nuvi GPS last month in STJ. It was a little tricky getting it synched with the satellite. You have to be in a very open area. To see if your GPS has the maps for the USVI turn it on now, go to <where to>, hit <points of interest>, then <near> at the bottom, select <a different city> and enter the nearest town (Cruz Bay, Coral Bay, Charlotte Amalie). From there enter food, attractions, recreation, shopping or in the case of Sapphire Beach- hit lodging and it will bring up the Sapphire Beach Resort. We had maps, voice command, and most of the places on STJ on ours. Good Luck.
