I am going for a hike in the Appalachian Mountains next week

I did not know the trail went all the way to Argentina. This may be a little more than I bargained for.

Does anyone have any advice for me on how to stay out of trouble? Can I do the hike in Tevas?

Should I tell my wife and children I am going, or just my staff?

Do you think my employer {the State of South Carolina} will mind if I am a few days late coming back.

I really need to, um, clear my head.

Thanks, and I will post a trip report when I come back.

Ramble a bit. You'll come up with some answers to your dilema.

This is so last century. Most of you are too young to remember the powerful congressman from Arkansas (Democrat) Wilbur Mills-who was the head of the Ways and Means Committee.

His mistress-Fanne Fox-was also known as "The Argentine Firecracker" in her career as a stripper. It was in 1974 that she jumped out of Mills limo and into the Tidal Basin in DC-don't remember if she was trying to commit suicide or not. Mills was an alcoholic and had to go into rehab, but served in Congress until 1976.

That's funny. I used to make his eyeglasses! Wilbur Mills, that is! The Fanny Fox scandal was pretty sensational. It also was the end of Wilbur.

As this will be the end for Sanford. Too bad too...I really liked his politics, and thought he was a legit contender for 2012.

As for the OP's comments...Maybe Sanford should enlist the advice of Elliott Spitzer (who actually broke the law by soliciting a prostitute), and of course Slick Willy. Oh, how I long for the days of Bill Clinton...Seriously.

But hey, at least Obama said last night that he will *ALLOW* me to keep my healthcare policy. Thanks O...Thanks for the permission slip. Paint me skeptical though.

Back to Sanford - One less hat in the ring for Mitt Romney!

Ya'll leave us South Carolineans alone...we never did nuthin to no-one. Just let us ride our motor cycles without helmets while lighting fireworks and making meth...cause we don't make textile no more....

Seriously...
I grew up in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts but have been down south for ~26 years now...I love the south, there's some good people down here.

At least SC recently had the good sense to allow you to "free pour" a mixed drink The bars with the wee bottles were absurd.

It's still dry on Sunday...that's not good.

It has South of the Border. That's good.

We've actually been able to buy alcohol here on Sunday for a couple years...beer anyway. Greenville city sells on Sunday...

People in glass houses...

Seriously, this is not a Rep or Dep issue. Men - and woman too - always have and will continue to have affairs. Just don't try to impeach someone for it and then be surprised when people come down pretty hard on you.

Just sayin'

Just one more member of the Church of the Devout Hypocritical having their dirty, little secrets aired in front of family, friends, and country. This church seems to have no shortage of members from any party, or background. And the beat goes on....

I just wanted to say, politics aside, the original post was hilarious. Thanks for the laugh.

Unfortuantely, people cheat, and it's despicable regardless of who's doing it. There's really no excuse for it. This is just one of those reasons I want to hit those Jon and Kate plus eight people.

Michigan is the only state I've lived in where you could get booze on Sundays. And in Tennessee it's even worse than Ohio, because you can't even get wine on Sundays. I'm not even sure that Michigan has liquor laws limiting where and when you can buy it, but that's OK because I'm pretty sure everyone there could use a drink.
