Has anyone used a private taxi from the airport to Red Hook recently. What was the cost and who did you use? Also, we have always taken the ferry from Red Hook. Any advantage with the one from Charlotte Amalie?

I will use this opportunity to tell you about my friend Rachel Brown. She is a taxi driver on STT and one of the nicest people you ever want to meet.
She loves what she does and loves to tell you all about the island of STT on your way to the ferry.

I am not sure what she is charging since I ride for free, but I know that many people here can tell you her fare since she is very popular on this board.

We are using Rachel on Saturday and she is charging us $50 for 2 adults. We have used both Dynamic Tours (Freddy) and Wheatley Taxi before, but they had a $75 minimum (up to 4 people) so Rachel was more reasonable for our group size this year. I am hoping that Rachel is as good as everyone says!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Rachel!!! We have used her the past 2 trips & will again for the next one. She is one amazing, sweet & precious lady. You will not regret this choice.

Advantage of using Red Hook is there are more scheduled trips to Cruz Bay and the boat ride is shorter.

Advantage to using the Charlotte Amalie boat is it is a much shorter taxi ride from the airport and a longer boat ride.

We also highly recommend Rachel Brown. She drove us from the airport to Red Hook in July 08. I believe it was $50.00 for the 2 of us. She is a very sweet lady and loves to tell you great stories about the islands and her life. It was so nice to have her whole van to ourselves, without being cramped in a full taxi.
Hopefully, she will still be operating in July 2010, because we would not hesitate to use her again!

We go to Red Hook a lot becasue we like to shop at the Marina Market across the street, best meat in the VI.. Also because there are many more ferry times and Red Hook runs much later..

But if we get there in time I much perfer the C. Amile ferry. It's only a few miles from the airport, a little longer ferry ride but much shorter taxi ride.

I would rather be on the water than stuck in STT traffic

The only problem, is that it only runs maybe 3 or 4 times a day
