I am looking for a 2-3 bedroom villa with sunset view, pool that gets lots of sun to stay warm. Air in bedrooms. Around $3000 max per week for 4. Newer would be nice .Any ones I might have overlooked.

Villa Capiz is not new but a great house and location. I would return there in a heart beat.

Was just talking to another forumite about this same place. Happy to share any pictures if you are interested.

while she's older and not luxury, we really love cloud 9 for her layout, views and floorplan. also has ac and 3rd bath in greatroom, gazebo on a huge deck, and quad doors that fold back between kitchen and deck for that down island feel and thus great western views from about 800ft from the entire house.

we've stayed there 4 times including 1st stay in 05 and plan to go back, but during last stay in feb 08 she was showing her age and need for a little tlc.

no pictures to share but the only vacation pictures we have on display in our house are a couple of cloud 9 sunsets.

ps, we love views from upper rockridge rd (treasure ridge and temptress but didn't like villa layouts) which is much easier drive to town and west end of north shore than gifft hill. believe allesandra would be a great western view villa.

We stayed at Villa Capiz and loved it. Fabulous pool and hot tub. View was spectacular, but not quite as spectacular as Paloma Blanca, which is now known as Sunset Serenade. We stayed there when it was a three bedroom, but now it is a two bedroom with a caretaker in the third bedroom on the lower level. I have to say that since the third bedroom was on the lower level with a separate driveway, it probably does not impact the privacy. Gifft Hill is close to Cruz Bay yet affords quiet privacy and unbelievable views!

I can also recommend Cloud 9 unless you what a real comfortable living/dining area inside the house. We did not need that, as we spent all our time outside by the pool under the gazebo. Never sat inside the house other than to sleep at night. We would go back there for the view, sunsets, and pool/hot tub. It truly was the most gorgeous sight, and the pool/deck area gets sun all day long until it sets. Kitchen is very small, but doable. I loved that you could fold back the doors of the kitchen to make you feel like you were outside . . . gazing at St. Thomas as you cooked or did the dishes . . . a real island feel to this villa.

didn't know about the name change. thanks. isn't there something funny about the road to this villa? I recall reading that in the past but now I don't remember.

Mary Beth, some people have had issues with the road, but we didn't. It is dirt as I recall, very bumpy and in some areas the trees are overgrown and a bit in the way. However, it's only like a two minute ride and it's flat, so again no biggie to us adventurous St John diehards! :)

To be honest, I don't remember if there was a sign. If you are heading north on Gifft Hill road, turn right on the road across from the dumpsters, which are just before Coconuts villa.

Just stayed at Villa Capiz in April and loved it, so I third the nomination!

We have stayed in Coconuts Villa twice and loved it. The views from the deck over to STT are wonderful and there is a nice shaded gazebo for having your meals or just hanging out. The yard is good size and nicely landscaped with huge purple bougainvillea bushes in the back. The pool is very nice - one year in May it was very warm (bathwater) and this time it was a bit cooler (we had quite a bit of rain, so it cooled down), but fine when it was sunny out. Nice living room area if you need to be inside (like we did when skeeters were bad in the evening). The house is not fancy, but its very nice. We usually take Centerline Road from town and turn onto Gifft Hill road to get there. The road coming from below (going by the Westin) is quite steep and huge potholes so a bit more of a challenge. Both times we had excellent experiences with Caribbean Villas. Its a few houses down from Cloud Nine which looks nice too, but we haven't stayed there.

We stayed in Plumeria a number of years ago, which is on Gift Hill. It is an older home but is attractive and well-maintained. It now has a nice covered porch. I do think Cloud 9 might have a better view than Plumeria.

Hey Iowaguy . . . why do you think Cloud 9 has a better view than Plumeria. We stayed in Cloud 9, and drove past Plumeria as we were coming and going. Plumeria looked very nice, and because it sits a little higher I would have thought it would have just as nice a view, or was it because you could see Cloud 9 and the villa next to it? Just curious . . .
