STJ Slam Poetry - Gromit Style

Hot, diesel filled air hitting me in the face
Soon I’ll be cruising at a slower pace
Gromit is known as a chronic overpacker
Sore muscles are fixed with a big bushwhacker
A short ferry ride to “the Rock” suits me just fine
My saving grace as I reach the end of the line
Determined not to let mosquitoes get me down
I will bask in the sun until I turn brown
Leaving all of my cares and worries behind me
I will hang in the water 'til I turn pruney
Looking forward to a solstice reunion with fellow forumites
No doubt meeting these folks will make my night
Gonna let the island work its magic on my soul
Let it fill up my heart, in a jeep I will roll
Must make a few visits to Skinny’s and Vie’s
Out on the East End where the sea meets the sky
Hanging out with the locals in Coral Bay
Drinking rum and ‘Ting and watching the waves
I’ll hike down to Salt Pond, do the Drunk Bay and Ram Head lap
A day that's best finished with a lobster roll at the Tourist Trap
Flip Flop and I will carve out time at the spa
Time away from mini and belly flop - she’s bound to say “ahhhh”
We’ll hang in the pool drinking our Tang-Os
And downing margarita shots made with Jell-O
I’ll take a time on the week-end to lime on Jost
A trip within a trip with the man I love the most
Good times with family and friends will surely be had
When we’re together on St. John nothing can ever be bad
Nothing is as good as when we’re on St. John
The island strengthens our family bond
I can’t wait to start my long awaited vacay
A much much much needed getaway
Thanks to all of you on the forum for helping me pass the time
With your trip reports and photos of boats the color of lime
It’s been a long wait but with just 24 hours to go
Gromit’s ready… 3…2…1… so fellas let the rum flow!
Holla!!
