Sat. 5/30

We arise early again. Of course, now that it’s almost time to go home we’re getting used to the sun coming up and setting so early. After a quick stop for more potent sunscreen and super-glue (minor knick-knack repair due to a mosquito assault) we arrive at Little Noah’s Arcs to rent a dinghy for half the day. A short safety orientation video and some brief paperwork and we’re on our way.

We take the advice of the video to make our first destination Waterlemon and head back slowly, stopping along the return wherever we prefer. Unfortunately, the wind kicked up the seas a bit, and as we came around Mary's Point into The Narrows the waves were beginning to feel a bit too much for my limited boating experience. We turned around and tied off to a buoy for a beer, some rest and snorkeling off the boat.

This was some of the best reef I had ever seen and I made two trips around just to take it all in. A note to those that might consider renting a dinghy for the day; I’m in pretty good shape. I work out regularly and could easily swim 1.5 miles freestyle, nonstop, without the aid of fins. Four hours on this boat was plenty, and by the end of the trip I was very tired. If you are going to consider a full day, make sure you have at least two people that would feel comfortable captaining the boat.

On the way back to Cruz we stopped briefly at Cinnamon before motoring over to our first visit to Trunk (you don’t have to pay if you arrive by boat!). We had sandwiches and a couple of beers (are you seeing a trend here?) in our cooler and ate lunch on a truly stunning beach. It is easy to see why Trunk is the “Crown Jewel” of the National Park. Our next stop was Honeymoon, which was about as beautiful as Trunk but without the crowd. Four other people on this beach when we arrived.

Back in the boat, as we rounded the corner into Cruz bay it felt like we were returning home. I guess we’re hooked.

Back to the Villa for a relaxing dip in the pool with cocktails.

After quick showers it’s back into Cruz Bay for the “Dinner and a Movie” special at The Crazy Cracker and the Swan Song of my Cavs at The (not so) Quiet Mon. Goin' home Tomorrow.....

So glad y'all had a great time out on the dingy. I laughed when I read your comment about the boat tiring you out after just a half day run.... I was ready to have my right arm surgically removed myself after our run. It was one of our favorite parts of the trip though. We got intimidated by Mary's point and never made it to Waterlemon as well... that just means we have something to look forward to next time!

Sounds like a satisfying day in the dingy. We hope to do this during our upcoming trip.
