Trip Report Jan 17-24

Good morning. As I am sitting here drinking my Kiss of the Jumbie coffee and it is 26 degrees and gloomy outside, I figured it was time to write my trip report.
I was lucky enough to visit St John 4 times last year so I know many locals down there. This visit I took a newbie to check out the island. Let me tell you it is a blast to show someone St John from the driving experiences to the hiking, beaches and nightlife. I now have created another St John lover an addiction to Pain Killers!
Our flight was great and we got in a little early. I rent from Dependable on St Thomas. They pick you up at the airport and take you to their rental place where the jeep was waiting. I know the back way around St Thomas so we avoided all the rush hour and cruise ship congestion. We got to car barge just as one was leaving. They waved me on and I gassed it and got on as the ramp was slideing across the pavement. I told my friend Welcome to the Islands! Luckily it was the barge with beer so we had a Corona as we approached St John.
After a quick cruise around Cruz Bay we went up to Pastory Gardens to check out the new management and the sunset. Unfortunatly no free rum puch at sunset anymore. They did install permanent awnings so there is now more rain protection. The food and drinks were good as usual.
After sunset it was time to head to Coral Bay. We rented Paper Moon in Johnson Bay Estates. It is a very nice cottage a few steps from the beach. It comes with a complimentary kayak to play in the bay. There is also a nice hottub for two.
The first night we went to Island Blues and met up with some old friends. It was Karioke night so that made it interesting.
Next day we started out the beach journeys with Little Lameshur. The first few hours we were the only ones there, very nice. Lunch time approached so we packed up and went to Skinny Legs. The place was packed! We had to wait in line. The sad part was the sticker shock. Sometime between August and now the jacked up there food by a couple bucks a piece. The special burger was listed on the board as $11 but when the bill came they charged $12. I didn't bring it up because they were so crowded. But it was a small burger for that price and they gave us about 10 potato chips. My rum punch tasted like it had bourbon in it. All in all it was not a good visit to Skinny's. After that non filling lunch we went to Francis Bay for the afternoon. Of course it was beautiful there.
After a day at the beach we went across the island to check out Cruz Bay. We ate at Beach Bar which was good as usual. Checked out my friends at Quiet Mon and then played some pool at The Front Yard.
I'll take a break now so you don't get too bored. I'll continue later.
