Powershot D10-we got it wet!

I tried to post the photos, but the flicker website shut down my internet explorer with a message about malware on the flickr site. I tried twice and the same thing happened.

Anyways...recipe for fun...take one canon powershot d10, one girl scout troop and one pool. stir.

I was really happy with the photos. I had brought the camera to take "out of the water" photos. When my daughter asked to bring it in the water I was like "Uhhhh...."

It was a VERY strange feeling letting her take that camera in the water! The photos are adorable! For those of you who are my FB friends, I will post some soon. I am really pleased with the quality, although I did not have my instruction book and the photos I took were on the "auto" setting not underwater. They still came out looking really good.

Real happy with camera so far. If anyone knows what the deal is with flickr, let me know.

I have mine too!

It's packed and ready to go to STJ in 8 days!

I felt your pain when I took mine in the pool for a test run. Having had a Canon u/w case for an old A70 fill with water on its first use on a snorkel trip in Hawaii five years ago, I was really nervous. I kept watching for bubbles to start popping up from under the buttons etc.

You will be amazed with the quality once you switch it to the underwater mode. The blue tinge totally disappears for crystal clear shots!

I am posting these photos with disclaimer- they were NOT taken with the underwater setting. They were with the auto setting. This is with no editing. They were also taken by an 11 year old who had never seen the camera before and who was not told how to use it. That said, I am really pleased and I am really excited to see what happens when we have it on the correct setting!

KT-thanks! The difference in quality is very noticeable! Can't wait to use!

Maybe we will see you on island-our daughters look about the same age...mine almost 12. How about yours?

djmom,

My daughter will be 11 in September. My son is 13, but he was at a friend's house when I was doing the camera testing.

But....neither will be with us on island. This is our first trip and is in "honor of" our 15th anniversary which is tomorrow.

Did you happen to take any 'out of water' shots with yours? I was pretty impressed with those, too. I normally shoot the non-u/w pictures with my Nikon D70 DSLR, and I liked what the D10 captured on some basic snapshots.

yes, real happy with the basic snapshots as well, especially the zoom. we had a powershot A610, so it was time to upgrade, it is amazing how much better the cameras are now.
