My first choice is Caneel Bay on St. John, just add the meal plan and it pretty much is an all inclusive except some of the activities and drinks will cost extra.

On St. Thomas, I have stayed at the Wyndham Sugar Bay. This will be a little less expensive. It is a big resort, but it worked fine. We stayed there for a short vacation a couple years back.

Are you looking for the all you can drink type all inclusives? If you are, my selections will probably not be what you are looking for. I have stayed at "Beaches" and "Sandals" and those may be what you are looking for. Sorry, no "Beaches" or "Sandals" in St. John or St. Thomas. I stayed at the Beaches in The Turks and Caicos and the Sandals in the Bahamas. I liked both. I just prefer a more remote and quite vacation these days and that is why I like St. John.

I am guessing since you are off topic then you are looking for places outside the USVI.

Where can they get direct flights to?
The DR and Aruba both have several AI's.
Bermuda used to have one also .. but the name of it is escaping me right now. Harmony Club???? That might be it but I'm not sure. I will have to google it now!

My brother goes to an AI in Turks and Cacois and loves it. Easy and quick flight from NY.

I think a cruise is just a great thing for a short trip. No planning and almost all inclusive. We went on Celebrity a few years ago on one of their "lesser" boats...it wasn't as flashy as the newer boats, but the food was great (just very very good food, not extremely elaborate...but very well prepared), the service was wonderful.

Because the boat was older we got a cabin with balcony and concierge service. It was really fun..every afternoon they automatically brought canapes to the room, just several nicer touches-the balcony was huge. We hung out on the balcony a ton, went to martini bar, just talked...we needed a vacation like that at the time.

It was just a great thing to do for that length of time. We needed a trip with lots of downtime and that was perfect.

We still prefer St. John and a more active vacation but it really was a great time.

Yes cruises can be cheesey but we found this line to be very nice and just simple/classy.

I agree with looking for direct flights. Once there, I would suggest looking for RIU resorts.

Not sure on the $$ they have or want to spend, but RIUs aren't deluxe, but they're certainly good enough (for us at least). We went to the Bachata down in Puerto Plata last year and liked it a lot.

We enjoyed the Westin/sheraton complex at Our Lucaya in the Bahamas. Friends did the all inclusive & liked it..Nice place for a short weekend trip

We did an all inclusive in St. Lucia 10 years ago for our honeymoon at the Jalousie Hilton. Very nice resort with little cottages that have their own plunge pool. The only problem was that it rained A LOT (it's located near the rain forest). I believe we booked it through Apple Vacations but I'm not positive.
