Beach chair rentals

We are staying at the Westin villas in December so unfortunately we won't have beach chairs that come with the rentals.

Does anyone know of a place that will rent beach chairs? I believe the Westin will gouge with overpriced crappy chairs so if possible, I'd like to avoid that.

If the price is right, I suppose we could buy some too, so any advice for the best place to purchase chairs would be appreciated too. (and, assuming we'd have to buy them, any ideas for leaving them for future forumites use would be great too - i'd hate for them to go to waste).

I may be wrong on this but I thing Every Ting rents beach chairs. They are located at Gallows Point. Check them out.

We rented nice chairs from Crabby's a few years ago at a decent price. Coral Bay is a bit far to go for renting chairs, but if you can't find them in Cruz Bay, you can try there.

I thought there was a recent post about beach chair rental and purchase. I cannot find it in the search. I know that Cinnamon Bay rents chairs. About $5/day I think. Someone posted that the hardware store on Centerline sells chairs.

For the money you're probably better off buying chairs and leaving them at the villa when you leave. The lumberyard on Centerline sells them as well as the hardward store in the Marketplace. I think I've seen them at the drugstore too.

You can rent them at the places mentioned but at $5/day you'll end up paying for a chair in 5-7 days anyway so why not donate them to the villa where you're staying?

We actually got a neat sheet for our last trip based on your recommendation. Huge fan. So a belated thanks, btw.

But, we are going down for a wedding in December and I am the de facto Julie McCoy on account of me being the only one who's been to STJ before, so I can envision at least several people who want chairs. Truth be told, even with a neat sheet/blanket, I still like to spend some time in a chair - easier to drink while reading :D

I hear you. I just hate hauling a chair to the beach myself. I think others had just recomended buying and inexpensive one on island.

You can also e-mail Crabby's. He's good at getting back to you.

I thought that chairs could be rented at The Westin from the shop near the tennis courts? I do know they have a shortage and tend to run out quickly, but I've always believed that to be an option, at least from my previous stays in the villas on the hill. Ali~

b-as-u-r -- I think the issue was cost with this option...

Ooops, I thought it was only like a couple of bucks per day.

Okay, how about they run around to all the neighboring villas and "borrow" one or two chairs off the deck and then return them all at the end of the week.

Now THAT sounds like a plan!

At Cinnamon Bay, chairs are $15/day each, with a $25/day deposit on each. Pretty ridiculous, but we did rent them for the last day.

You can fly yours down. You may have to sign a damage waiver, and then they'll be a pain to haul across St. Thomas and on the ferry, but if you're looking for a really cheap option, that's it.

Thanks for the helpful responses.

Apparently Crabby's has beach chairs for $5/day, $20/week. Being that we will probably head over to Shipwreck or Skinny's for Lunch as soon as we get on island, we can easily swing by and pick them up.

I will simply assign the members of our party, who are staying longer than me, the duty of returning them :D

If we find a similar arrangement in Cruz Bay, I will be sure to pass along the scoop.
