I applaud you "chicagoans", the world would be a better place if more people cared for it as you do! and Exit Zero - I apologize for my initial reaction to the development of Dittleff. Rather than be upset that I can't get to a favored beach, I should realize that in many ways it is so much more than that. Indeed YOUR ISLAND is changing without regard to you and the others that truly call SJ home. I think that saddens me more than anything. And....Pete (Mr. Marcia) you are so right....In the morning light today (and since I don't drink wine at work) I have calmed down a bit and realize that I would be hard put to "find another island" that would match SJ - that's why I go back year after year. Thank you all for your input and everyone else who posted to my question!! and oh yes, Rick G you are amazing - my techie hero.

All of the Virgin Islands and really many other places are constantly changing over the years - all with benefits and disadvantages - I was just in Anguilla - literally miles of deserted beaches!! - it did not make me want to move there though - and when my great grandchildren go there in the future they will probably see chains and signs.

hey snorkelqueen - thanks for the very nice post! Your post about Ditleff was good too -- it's the kind of thought/question that gets us all thinking, you know?

Have a good day and dream of the islands!
