I agree. As I said on my F.B. page, if it wasn't for them and their sacrifices none of us would be able to enjoy the lives we do. So especially on Memorial Day I'm a very grateful and proud American.

We often visit a large Army post nearby and are always impressed with the troops we see there. They do such a great job for the nation both at home and abroad.

Today I joined a FB group advocating free postage for the military-I hope it succeeds!

Here here! The youtube video of Goodnight Saigon by Billy Joel is one of my favorites.
Thank you!

Add the Big and Rich video 8th of November to that list. If you ever get a chance to see the documentary of their trip back to Nam with their friend, you must do it. It's a true story about an Airborne unit that was ambushed on November 8, 1965. Their friend was one of the few who survived.

If you see a vet today -- or any day -- thank them for their service.

Yes, thank you to all the veterans!

Last night we watched Taking Chance. It's a good movie in which Kevin Bacon plays a Colonel who is escorting a fallen marine home. Very touching and a good movie for this weekend; if you can catch it I recommend it.

My grandfather flew the Burma hump during WW2, and I always think of him on this day.

My brother in law came home late last night too...I know I've told some of you guys about his military career to date. He graduated ranger school last week. He said that both his Iraq tours were a walk in the park compared to ranger school (that is hard for me to believe!). He is going to airborne in a couple of weeks, and then back to Iraq in the fall. The kids are so happy that he is home for now.

He is very skinny from ranger school, so my personal mission is to fatten him up a bit before he goes back.
