Hi everyone - I'll post this on the Off Topic forum as it technically is, but I thought I would post "over here" so you can answer "over there"
(I know alot of people don't look over there or you can just answer here, I just didn't want to annoy anyone
)

Gromit has a great little set. Very portable!!! I don't recall the brand, but hopefully she'll see this and post!

Pia, how "portable" would you like the speakers to be? I have portable speakers for my iTouch......would the iPhone dock just like the iTouch? Anyway, the speakers work quite well out be the pool, in the bedroom, or anywhere I need to listen to my tunes.
I can get the specs on it for you if you'd like. I got it at the Apple store here in Dallas.

Hi Pia,
I ordered the speakers that Gromit recommended a while ago, and used them while on STJ earlier this month. They worked great for what we were looking for. They're really small, travel well, and pumped out a surprising amount of sound.

I think I ended up buying them off of Amazon though. They were a bit cheaper there.
Good luck!

We take this one with us to STJ. It is plenty loud, has good bass and even has a remote that works across the pool area.

I should have read the post more carefully...you were asking about speakers for your iphone, not ipod. My bad.
But, the JBL speakers that I showed you does have a jack in the back to input a cord from your iphone.

Thanks Lovermont, they are the ones I remember from the other thread - again a dumb question (but keep in mind who is asking
) do you just plug them into your iPhone and if so do the cables come with them or do you have to buy them seperate - also do they run on batteries and if so how long do they last.
Pete - does that work with an iPhone and not just an iPod ??
Thanks again - much appreciated.

I've used that one before, Pete. It is a GREAT speaker. I think they make one that is battery operated for complete portability, as well as the wired one that I used. I would certainly cast my vote for that one! Also, I assume that the iPhone will dock as well as the iPod?

Pia- I have one like Pete posted and it does blast pretty loud and also runs on batteries! Would you like me to send it down for a "test?" I could pick it up in just a few weeks.

I don't use it daily or anything so I wouldn't miss it.
Let me know!

Does that one have a style number/name and where can I find it - only from the apple store?
Thanks

The speakers come with all the cords. The plug is the type that plugs into the headphone jack on your iPhone. There's also a USB plug to recharge the built-in batteries. (But the batteries never ran out while I used it; I re-charged it periodically with one of the adapters that came with my iPhone.)
No silly questions here... I get really confused about this stuff and usually defer to my husband when it comes to technology.
