so we are thinking of taking the ferry over to get a bit more time rather then a charter which is more $$ as we did a few years ago. Once the ferry drops us off - what do we do? do we cab it? what should we do once we are on Jost besides, foxys and soggy? just looking for ideas! THanks!!

There'll be cabs waiting to take you wherever you'd like to go. Just make sure you make arrangements with them to get back to the ferry in plenty of time at the end of the day.
I just go to White Bay and start at Seddy's and work my way down to Ivan's.

Cabs are generally the best way to go. I see some people walking, but frankly, it's hot and it's hilly. I wouldn't walk if you paid me.
You can also rent a car for the day from one of two car rental places, but I don't recommend this unless you are comfortable with ambiguity.
You can fill a day with just Soggy Dollar and Foxys, but if you are the sort that likes to see a lot rather than stay put:
White Bay - walking distance from the Soggy Dollar you find lots of other great beach bars (Seddy's One Love, Gertrudes, Ivan's Stress Free, etc.).
Great Harbor - in addition to Foxy's, just taking a stroll down the sandy "Main Street" is an experience in itself. Lots of bars and restaurants, Christine's Bakery just off the main drag, or just settle in a hammock and watch the goings on around you.
Little Harbor and beyond - Abe's and Sidney's Peace and Love are on Little Harbor and serve some great lobster. Keep going and you'll come to Foxy's Taboo which I hear has great food and fabulous daiquiris (ask LMG, she has sampled EVERY FLAVOR...possibly in the same day....) and a little farther down you'll find the Bubbly Pond.
Lots of fun stuff.

Yes, that's true. And they are all very good. However, your decision to try all in one day may be highly influenced by your ability to tolerate certain traveling companions.

Vicki, I have seen people walk it too, but I've had such bad luck getting just from Ivan's to Soggy Dollar that I can't even imagine walking all the way from the ferry dock!

so do you guys suggest taking the ferry over or do you think it would be better for a charter? i know a lot of people suggest te palm tree, i just figured we would spend more time on Jost if we took the Ferry. we stopped there when we visted 5 years ago, but i would like to get more time and see a little more - it seems like a charming place. Does the Ferry run on Mondays still? I am thinking of the 22nd of June?

From my experience, I think you see more of Jost if you take the ferry, and you really can't beat the price.
I think I heard recently that the ferry was now running on Mondays, but I have only gone on the weekends, so I don't know for sure. I am sure someone here can confirm that. I also think there might be a way to go through Tortola on the other days, but I have never done that either.

I like using yahoo maps or google earth because you can also get a satellite view.

Can anyone remember the cab fare from the ferry dock to White Bay? Per person, or say for 5 people?

It is $5pp each way. You should arrange for them to pick you up to make the ferry.
