Mixology

Hi, thought I would start a separate thread for this.

I read about Mixology on this forum & also saw it advertized on another board, can't remember which since I hope around to so many.

Anyway,as were not renting a car we thought it might be a challenge to be carrying some refreshments to the villa. So what better way than to pre-order. If you spend 100.00 they had free deleivery.

I called down around early Oct to see what they had to offer brand wise & also prices. They were very nice & patient with all my ??'s.
For us the beer was no problem, the brands are bacially the same as here in Canada or that we get on the Islands, however the wine choices were a bit tricky as they carried a large amount of California wine, which we do not drink a lot of, we are more into the Australian & New Zealand wine.
They also have pop, water, I believe I saw drink mixes when we were in the store once there to pick up a few more goodies.

After hubby & I talked about what we felt we would need to get us thru the 8 days I called back & placed our order about 10 days before we arrived.
As this concept is new to us we didn't know how it worked.
I had aksed if they would be able to put some of the refreshments in the fridge & they said it was not problem & asked what we wanted in the fridge.
When we arrived at the villa our order was there & what we had requested was in the fridge.

As for the prices I am not sure since we are from Canada but we felt they were resonable. They were great to deal with & will cretainly pre-order again for our upcomming trip in April.

Any ?, just ask

Can you give us an idea of pricing? I am curious if it is worth the price or if I should stop at Pine Peace on the way to the villa.

Thanks---I placed an order with Mixology for our February visit---how convenient to have it delivered and there waiting. The owner, Gary Moses, was very accomodating and special ordered a few things he didn't have in stock.

Hi Xislandgirl,

Caibe & Presidente(6 for $7.60), 12 packs of Coors light- can's $12.70,
1.75 Litre of Cruzan dark Rum - $9.70,
case of 4 gallon jugs of water- $6.00
The wine was on average $10.00 for a 750 ml, or $14.00 for a large one.
We also got 7-up, can't remember the price but it was more than any of the above LOL.

So not sure how it would compare.
I am thinking that we may see what the wines & beer prices are like at the shop at the St Thomas airport & perhaps pick up a few things as well.
I tink we will be indulging a little more with having our friends with us...

Thank you shopper! This is great information to have. We were planning to use Katilady catering for provisioning, and then to add alcohol to that, but this gives us another good option. Thanks again!

I just got back and if you are on island it is cheaper by at least a dollar a bottle to buy from pine pease but the convince of ordering and having it there when you arrive might be worth it.

Thanks for this post! I did not know that you could order in advance from them and that they would even deliver. We'll be taking advantage of this service for sure.

This is my very first post. I finally registered. I too did not know that Mixology delivered. It's usally our first stop after we get taken to our villa. Are the prices you were quoted the delivery price or is that broken out separately? Our experience is that Mixology has good prices for St. John.

Does Mixology have better prices that Starfish Mkt or
Dolphin? Where exactly is Mixology? I'm staying at a villa
near the Westin and I think it's near there.

Where is Pine Peace????
Does anyone know if they sell wine & beer at the little shop at the airport????

Wolfhound I am assuming the prices I quoted are the reqular price. The state that they do not charge for delivery if your order is over $100.00 which is not hard to get to LOL

If you are headed out on south shore pine pease is on the left before you start up the big hill next to the auto parts store.

Although I try to buy all my alcohol at Pine Peace Market, Mixology is a good liquor store with a better selection and the only spot on the island I have been able to find Barbancourt rum.

Hi Ruth,

Does Mixology allow you to just send a list of what you need or do you need to choose from a pre-selected list.

I thought I had checked ther website and decided they offered things that we wouldn't need (we ate out everynight, so wine was not needed at the villa).

Anyway, I ended up sending a list of liquor/snacks to the Schnell's and they had it delivered the day we arrived.

Hi Jayseadee,
From what I saw when we were in the store they basicaly have liquor. I did see a few snacks but did not pay much attention to what they had.

I would recommend you call them, they were very helpful. They wanted some notice so that they would have what we wanted, I imagine there shipments only come in so often.Mind you we did place an order of a few cases of beer & a few bottles of wine so we had a fairly large order...LOL

I never thought of aksing the Schnell's, but then I had already decided on placing the order with Mixology.

Do you have another trip planned???
