My wife and I are planning our first trip to STJ. Something we've wanted to do for a long time now. It's still almost a year away until we go, but we were wondering if anyone has gone on the day trip to Jost with Cruz Bay Watersports ? If so how was it, and are there other options for going to Jost for the day ?

Hi there,
There is a ferry that leaves out of Cruz Bay that goes to Jost. We've done snorkel excursions that stop there but its never enough time...so...if you want to spend an entire day there you may want to opt for taking the ferry.
Just my opinion...

You could take a sailboat, if you like sailing. Not a tremendous amount of time on Jost, but the sailing is wonderful. We've gone on Survivan & will be sailing on her again next week. There are several powerboat companies that do the trip, also.

We took Cruz Bay Watersports for the Jost trip last year and will be doing it again next Thursday. It is a nice day sail. You stop for snorkeling in the morning, head to Foxy's for lunch, then sail over to White Bay. The day flys by. It was perfect for us as we were not in one place for a long time. The crew was great and the drinks were flying.
If I had it my way I would take a catamaran over to White Bay for the day and just chill on the beach and soak up the painkillers at Soggy's. My wife is not a big boat person and feels more comfortable on a cat and Cruz Bay Watersports offered us the most economical day trip to where we wanted to go.

I'm going to second the ferry option. You'll probably get the most time there that way at the most reasonable cost.
One thing though... if this is your first trip to STJ you are going to have PLENTY to see and do.
How long are you planning to stay on STJ?
Just keep in mind that even on the ferry, you only end up with about 5-6 hours on Jost. SO you need to weigh that with your costs and see if it's worth it to you.
It's enough time to get into trouble but not enough to get arrested

thanks for the info
Gromit- we're going to be on STJ for a week. This will be the only off island trip besides a dive or two. Otherwise beach hoping and snorkeling, oh and of course bar hoping !
