Opinion on Virgin Grande Estates and Caribe Villa, Please?

We're traveling with newbies who want to rent Kalorama Vllla in Virgin Grande Estates. The villa itself looks great, but we're aren't familiar with the area other than driving by VGE. Is it a gated community? Are the villas close together? Would it be comfortable in July without a/c? Any comments, both pro and con, would be appreciated.
Caribe Villa is our second choice.

According to the rental agent, it has had recent extensive remodeling and has been off the market for awhile. Has anyone stayed there recently or know anything about it?

We can't help ourselves. It's a sickness with only one cure.

We stayed at Vista Caribe villa in January, which is right below Kalorama. During late afternoons by the pool, we could hear the outdoor sound system coming from above. Something our villa could use...

Otherwise, a quiet neighborhood...
It's a very upscale area, and while we were there they started using the front gate again, so we felt even safer, because talk of villa break ins were on the rise. We had no problems at all with that. Just kept cash, etc. in the upstairs safe, and never left anything of value sitting out overnight.
You will have a great time there, I'm sure. The pictures look wonderful. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info in VGE, Zaney. That's very helpful. Yep, Kalorama's supposed to have a killer sound system according to the website. They say they gave it the Bon Jovi test, so maybe you were there that day.

Unfortunately, it's no longer available during our week.

Hi, Ripnero. I haven't talked to anyone who has stayed there since its renovation. Someone who stayed there several years ago said the pool was cool due to the constant breeze, but the morning views were great. Maybe you can post a review after your trip. It sounds very nice, especially with all the new furnishings, etc.
Hope you have a nice trip.
