We are planning a last minute vacation for June. I was wonderning if villa rates are negotiable? I know it's the off season and with us getting a late start if any of the rental agencies would be willing to negociate on the advertised price.

Depends on how hard up they are to fill that space.
My attitude is that it doesn't hurt to ask. But don't be offended if they say "no."
Of course if you look at the villas calendar and see that it's wide open (no rentals in June) then you're probably in a better position. But in the end it's up to the Villa co and the owner.

100% you can ask - I know many who have gotten a great deal - my family included for their upcoming June trip but they went directly to the owners (the villa is not with an agency) and not to a rental company. Many rental companies I know of are not giving deals - at least they wern't - maybe that is changing.

Definitely ask for the best rate available for your week. We are traveling at the end of May and most agencies were offering at least a 10% discount - some as much as 20-30% - we ended up saving almost 20%. Caribbean Villas have many discounted - check out their last minute special page although they charge a 5% service fee.

something someone suggested that worked for us. we are coming with kids. asked for the 2 person rate instead of 4. they said yes right away.
that was thru the owner also.

John and I just locked in the villa for our June trip on Friday. We contacted pretty much all of the agencies. All but one offered us discounts of varying amounts, starting at 10% and going as high as 30% off the lowest 2 person rate quoted online.
I am very happy with the deal we received, and the house that we chose. There are lots of very nice properties open in June--in fact, we had a really hard time deciding which to choose. The discounted rates brought some houses into play that we would not have considered otherwise.

Check out the Villas on VRBO.com you will be dealing directly with the owners on that sight. Vaction Rental By Owner. My guess would be as Pia said you will find more flexibility directly fromthe owners.
