You'll probably want to keep a standard pot for serving multiple people but this thing is also great for evening coffee drinkers (might be a NOLA thing) that might only want 1 cup.

As for whether or not to use your coffee it will likely be an easy decision. Green Mountain's coffee is really good and it couldn't be more convenient, I couldn't justify the price personally.

As for the noise, it's not as bad as the Youtube video.

We have a mini K-cup brewer and really like it. We use the K-cups and not the refillable filter. I buy them in bulk from coffeegiant (google it) and they have deals from time to time. Like buy 5 boxes get the 6th for free. Makes it worthwhile and they never go bad since they are sealed.

We are the same, have a cup maybe two in the morning and thats it. Brewing a whole pot in a regular coffee pot was just a waste. We also like the variety of brands and brews with the K cups. Also nice to have tea as my wife enjoys some of the celestial seasons teas.

I have the Tassimo single cup machine and love, love it! Did I say that I really love it! I buy the pods (coffee, chai tee, hot chocolate, lattes & cappuccino's) on-line and they're delivered right to my door (but if I need more, they can be purchased at B,B & B, and B,B&B always has coupons). We chose this brand because it has starbucks coffee pods (coffee for us can only be starbucks, Kuani something or another from Hawaii and we like Ruth's blue-voo-doo). Again, I've become a real fan of these single-cup machines. Hey, just wanted to give you something else to think about. Ali~

I love it--no throwing away half a pot of coffee. Plus I drink a half-decaf blend and my husband drinks a full-strength. I DO use the K-Cups, but the little basket to fill with your own coffee seems fine.

I don't know which one I have--the regular one. It has three buttons for 3 differently-concentrated cups. I make a concentrated cup of 1/2 caf in the morning, which only fills my mug 1/3 of the way. The rest I fill with steamed milk. I sprinkle a combo of cinnamon, chocolate, and sugar on top of it and I've got my own perfect version of a latte.

Pia, I never get grinds in my coffee but I'm careful when I load the basket.

Check around on the Internet, different packages come with different accessories and sample packs of coffee.

We have one of those (Keurig) at our office. It has a setting where you pick small, medium, or large cup -- that dictates how much water is mixed with the coffee, since the coffee is a single, fixed serving. We use the single serving cups with the foil tops that fit into the machine.

The small is kind of strong, like espresso. The medium is like a small cup of regular coffee from Starbucks. It doesn't quite fill up a regular sized coffee cup. The large, as explained to me, is 'like what you'd get from a coffee vending machine' so I have never tried it.

For me, it's fine for when I'm at the office. But I like to drink more coffee, so when I'm at home I make more than what this would for a single serving.

One nice thing is that you can also get hot chocolate packets that work with this machine.

I do find it a bit loud.

If you don't drink alot of coffee I think it's a good choice. We drink alot, especially when we have people over. (Sometimes I pull out my mega 100-cup capacity thingy.) So I don't think it would work for us but sounds like it would work for you. The Keurig works pretty fast, so you can make a few cups in a short time.
