i am thinking about bringing some movies along for this trip. Have done it in the past and never watched a thing but different crowd this time.
Need some suggestions as I'm coming up blank with things that would appeal to the majority. We are a group of 2 in their 50's, 2 in their 40's and a 16 year old! Any suggestions?

I am bringing with from Netflix.
I was just looking at Miss Pettigrew - I need to see what that's about.
Thanks.

it's really a great film. I am not sure what kinds of movies you like, but this one is funny and charming.

How about "Twilight"?
What 16 year old hasn't seen it a bazillion times already - what's once more.
Bride Wars, The Bucket List, any of the Bourne films, Mamma Mia

For something light & hysterically funny I'd recommend Captain Ron but not knowing the group I dunno.

Island/Beach themed movies are fun:
After the Sunset
Thomas Crown Affair (they visit an island)
Blue Crush
Captain Ron
Six Days Seven Nights
Fools Gold
Surfer, Dude (Anything with Matthew McConaughy half naked isn't a bad thing)
Oh and I just watched Point Break this week-end (on Starz) so bad it's good....

Harold and Kumar Escape from Gitmo. Ok, so not appropriate for most anyone but so wrongly funny. I am a little obsessed with it right now.
Juno is very good. Very dry humor.
I've heard Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist is along the same vein as Juno.
Into the Wild (a little depressing but beautiful scenery and a very good story)
Mamma Mia was kind of fun
The Constant Gardner - old but good
Fools Gold - won't win any oscars but it has nice scenery and is islandy

If you've seen it before you might not want to see it again, but I loved March of the Penguins. My kids were captivated by it too.
In a completely different vein, we recently watched (again) Young Frankenstein. It's still funny. ("The feeling is mootchal!")
I have always liked:
Shawshank Redemption
Fiddler on the Roof
Life Is Beautiful
Those might be a bit serious for vacation...
Maybe the Pirates of the Caribbean series?
Funny movies that might appeal to more than one generation (not too embarrassing for the teenager to watch with the grandparents, and not too gross or racy for the grandparents):
Trading Places
A Fish Called Wanda
Stripes
Napolean Dynamite
The Birdcage
The Princess Bride
I know... these are all really old. I need to get out more.
