Tell me about Devers Bay snorkeling

I apologize if this is redundant. I tried searching but could not find much of anything. There's probably a whole thread on this...

I've never been to Devers Bay. Those of you who have snorkeled Devers, how is it? Any recommendations for which side to check out in the bay? Tell me what is there. Any reefs to explore?

You will be helping me finalize my villa choice.

Thank you! :D

Devers Bay has very good snorkeling. I stayed at Dream Come True a couple years ago. Further out in the bay it has depths of 35 to 40 feet with good coral formations and caverns. My wife and I are certified divers, so we rented some gear and did a shore dive of Devers Bay after we saw a dive boat doing a dive there. I personally like the Southeast portion of Devers Bay close to the mouth of the bay. This is the area that we dove, but you can easily snorkel as well.

Ya, it's a wonderful spot. When we're not staying there, we take the moderate swim (on a par with Cinnamon Cay) from Chocolate Hole around the point counterclockwise to Devers Bay. That point is my favorite spot and its open deep water interspersed with very large house-size boulders and some walls. You may see some fish traps in this area as well - nurse sharks like to sleep under them. You can rest on the beach at Devers before swimming back.

I don't know of any access to Devers Bay itself, except for the villas - Jorge and I looked last November.

Cheers, RickG

I don't know anything about the diving but it is a great area to stay. I stayed at "Island Time" in Feb and LOVED!!!! it. Great location, amazing view. Would go back in a heart beat.

There is no direct access to Dever's Bay outside the homes right on the beach - Vida de Mar, Sunset Beach and Dream Come True.

Dever's is also home to Leonardo, the Giant Sea Turtle according to local lore. He is supposed to live in the bay and is the size of a VW. Although I don't know anyone who has actually seen him for themselves, but you never know!

We stayed at Dream Come True a couple years ago. Snokeling from the beach in front of the house around the point to the west was great. I think we saw Leonardo. Or a big turtle in any event.

We also stayed at Dream Come True last April.
My husband loved snorkeling there. He waited for calm water before going out. I have some pics if you want me to post them. As mentioned before it is extremely deep and alot to see.
I want to hear more about this turtle.
