Tell me about Spirit Airlines

We've never flown Spirit Airlines to STT before but it's looking like it might be the best option price-wise this year.

I'm a frequent flier on other airlines but have no experience with Spirit. The flights would connect in Fort Lauderdale.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I am one that loves Spirit. But my experience is limited. Last year I took a red eye from LAX back to STT on Spirit. The fare was low enough I justified buying the Big Front Seat as they call their version of First Class. The aircraft was very clean, staff very nice as usual. I do admit I always do carry on most of the time, and this was no exception. I only dislike they reduce their schedule to LAX in the winter months. Otherwise, I would fly them whenever possible. Oh, and the FLL terminal is old and dated, like 70's dated.

I have flown Spirit more than any other airline and have not had any problems so I guess that puts me in their favorable category. You will find people passionately opposed to them for a few reasons but it seems to mostly center around their customer service or lack of. We have not had a problem that way. We have flown from Atlantic City to FLL and onto STT multiple times, as well as ACY to San Francisco a few times. The planes have been newish and attendants attendant. No complaints here!

Price is my guideline. If it works I fly them. Lately we have used Continental out of Newark as it is a direct flight into STT, and we board our dogs up close to Newark, so it is a better fit than Spirit has been for the last few trips.

I have also flown Spirit out of AC through FLL to STT.
I live about 15 minutes from the Atlanic City airport and would rather fly USAIR out of Philly, Continental out of Newark or American out JFK. The planes are new but always seem like a tighter fit. The FLL layover is 3hrs and the terminal is small, outdated and has only one restaurant/bar and it is usually packed and makes the travel day long. I also haven't found their flights to be cheaper other than USAIR because they add alot of taxes. Their fares are advertised cheaper but when you add all the taxes their not. I have driven two hours to JFK and got a cheaper direct flight that arrives at 12:30pm the last three trips.

Hey Girl,
We always take spirit down and never have a problem and the staff and crew always very nice
Plus the plane has never been fully packed so we are always able to pick our own row and lay down and sleep to rest up for our week
You shouldnt have any problems
Have fun
