We're doing some surveys at work. I got curious how the forum would break down in some areas.

Lex, aren't you missing "non-smoker" or "never smoked"? Or is this just for people who currently or used to smoke? Most of the people I know have never smoked.
Edited to say: Fixed now!

I was a fairly heavy smoker and quit a little over 2 years ago. I averaged about a carton a week, which is 10 packs, or 200 cigarettes. On my 2 year anniversity of not smoking I fiqured, it had been 104 weeks of not smoking 200 cigarettes a week which was 20,800 cigarettes that I didn't smoke in 2 years!

JT that's great -- good for you! I'm sure it's a tough habit to break. I don't know what a pack of cigs costs, but I don't think they're cheap... if you add up what you've saved, that must feel good.

The cost of cigarettes alone would make me quit these days. When I quit, they had gone up to $.75 a pack and I thought that was too expensive!

This "poll", of course is pretty much reflective of nothing. It's such an unrepresentative sample that it's meaningless, but I was just curious what the response might be.
Here's some things that did catch my eye. The Drinking Poll got more hits than the Smoking Poll and is getting more replies, but has fewer actual respondents to the poll question itself. Go figure. I wouldn't have expected so many folks who have never smoked. That was surprisning to me. And I wouldn't have expected so many who had quit. Of course, most folks take some pride in having quit or never having smoked, so may enjoy responding to the poll more than current smokers would.
If anyone is curious, here's some numbers:
Various polls and agencies put the % of adults in the US who smoke at figures ranging from 20 to 25%.

That is due to forum Rule #1- We are obsessed with booze.

I just now noticed something. When totalled, the percentages in these polls do not add up to 100%. One totals 95%, the other 96%.

How about "Quit smoking but I'm puffing away when I'm on St. John"
Quit back in October but I have this little instinct that I'll be lighting one or two up on St. John...it's been a rough couple of weeks
