Last night was the first concert of the 2009 tour at the Mohegan Sun in CT. My hubby surprised me with some tickets and we managed to get some really awesome floor seats. The concert was great.....mostly his older music, but a few of the new tunes mixed in. If I get a chance, I'll post the song list a little later. The encore song was Don't Blink. Not sure that would have been my song choice to end a concert with, but good. (I wish more of the island music was played, but I guess the majority of fans prefer the country music.) Kenny was full of energy and he's got yet another great tour underway. Anyway, it did not disappoint and the Kenny fans can expect more fabulous concerts from Kenny this year. Ali~

Couldn't agree with Ali more. I was also at the concert last night and he was great! Not to mention, it's the first time my wife and I have been out alone since the second baby was born last fall. We had a great time!

This morning, we headed out for our usual coffee. We live in Groton, near the Mystic Marriott (for anyone familiar w the area)...As we were heading back home after our Dunkin' run, we drove past the Marriott where there were about 10-12 luxary buses parked. My wife told me to pull in, that she thought that's where he was staying - sure enough, all buses had the TN license plates. A little surprising being that this hotel is probably 25 minutes away from the casino. Please note for the remainder of the story: We are sooooo not stalker poeple. However, my sister who was supposed to go to the concert last night with us, had to bail and drive all the way back to Pittsburgh PA yesterday (her 5 year old daughter got sick). She's part of his fan club...I mean, a freak about it (though not in an 'unhealthy" way!).

Given that, I took my son Jack by the hand (he's 3) and took a walk into the lobby. Julie and the baby stayed in the care...Long story short, we happened to run into him near the starbucks counter...I said "hello Mr. Chesney, any chance you would take a picture with my boy"...He thought for a moment and said "I'm sorry brother, but not like this"...He was on his way to the gym - no hat, tee and shorts. I politely said "I understand, great show last night, and take care"...Then we left. He was very pleasant eben in turning down my request. Seems like a very down to Earth guy - and I can totally understand why he's hesitant to have his picture taken when he's casual. And in fact, I felt a little dirty afterward...Like I said, I have never done that before.

Nice guy - GREAT entertainer.

My friend was at the show last night and tonight and she thought he was staying at Mohegan.

Okay, here's the playlist:
Tractor's sexy
Live those songs
Summertime
Beer in Mexico
Keg in the closet
Went out last night
Big Star
No shoes, no shirts, no problems
I go back
Anything but mine
Down the road
Me and You (special slot song, subject to change)
Living in fast forward
Young
Never wanted nothing more
Back where I come from
How forever feels
Everybody wants to go to heaven
When the sun goes down
Don't just happen twice
Jack and Diane
Don't Blink (encore song)

Wow soxfan22, that's quite the chance meeting. Hah, and I thought I was a big deal with the hand slap as he was working his way down the runway. Glad you and your wife enjoyed the concert as well. Ali~

Yeah, I don't think he drinks coffee?? He was there with 3 or 4 bandmates...One of them wearing a St. John t-shirt - thought that was funny.

Enjoy the show tonight - the open was pretty cool!

I just heard on an interview him say he never drinks coffee that is the ONLY reason I said it....
My friends on island say he loves his red bull and I laugh since soooooo many drinks are made with red bull on island.......lol

My friend just called and she ended up in the hospital last night after the show. She about passed out. Her sugar spiked but she is feeling better and there again tonight.
I had her promise me IF she feels ill she will go sit down.......she saw him last night and will again in Aug.......

Sox, did he look that bad in his work out attire? He doesn't exactly dress up on stage (except for those tight jeans. :D I'm a bit disappointed he wouldn't take a photo with a precious 3 year old, esp. since you paid the price of a couple of tickets. Oh well, you enjoyed the show and that's all that counts.

Oh - I was in total agreement! We saw the same interview where he said he's never had a cup of coffee in his life.

Wow, I hope your friend is okay! Is she a diagnosed Diabetic? That is a terrible way to spend the night! Hope she feels better.

Cypress - I am not one to judge how another man looks in his workout gear. Just sayin...But no, he looked normal except for the bald dome with no hat.

When I asked, he hesitated (thought about it)...So he didn't dismiss us out of hand. He obviously has no idea what my intentions are...We've probably all read plenty of stories of paparazi using children as props to get celebrities to pose for a pic.

She is diabetic but she was fine yesteday at 4p.
She told me she ate again at 7p.
She was at the show by herself since her friend has troubles with her kids.
She said she is feeling better.
She had called me last night when he did down the road' since she knows I like it.
I really want to go this tour since I want to see the difference with 'Drummie'.......the percussionist from the Wailers that is with them for all the tour.

I do not think anything strange by not taking a pic.....maybe he was sweaty from running........

I am glad everyone had a good time at the show......
My friend did say he was drenched at the end and he must really need to up his cardio........lol
