Can't afford a private charter...

We would love to go on a snorkeling trip over to the BVI's and see the Baths, etc. We really can't afford to hire a private charter (Palm Tree, Lion). Can anyone recommend another company to use?

What about the New Horizons 2 charter? This boat fits about 15 people and charges $145 per person ($95 for kids). You don't have to fill the boat, you can just book for however many are in your party, and they'll fill in with others who want to go on the same day.

They take you to the Baths for a tour and swimming, to Marina Cay for lunch, and then one more snorkel spot. When we went it was Guana Cay and the snorkeling was terrific. The final stop is Jost Van Dyke, where you can either swim or lounge on the beach. It's a full day, but it is really fun, and a good introduction to the various spots. The price includes snacks and drinks on board.

Here is a link to their website:

Limnos Charters does the same thing as New Horizons and we had a good time. http://www.limnoscharters.com/ It's about the same price. You go the baths, snorkel at the indians and eat lunch and open bar on the boat.

The least expensive way to get to the BVI is by ferry. You won't get the enjoyment of a few snorkel stops, but it actually gets you the most time on an island. If you're interested in Virgin Gorda, you can take the ferry, get a taxi to the Baths, snorkel around there and Devils Bay. It allows you to move about on your own, at your own pace, rather than as part of a group. You get a very different experience of the caves at the Baths when you're in there alone rather than moving through them with a group.

A limiting factor is that the ferry doesn't run daily. Here's schedules:

I agree with Lex, take the ferry to Virgin Gorda to do the Baths. You can have a late lunch at Top of the Baths ( food is OK) or just swim in their pool with a fabulous view and have a few drinks, taxi back to the ferry. I think the ferry leaves you in Spainish Town and there are resturants, shops and such to poke around in as well.
