Help Me Choose A Dog!

I'm working on an entry for an ad campaign. If they use my ad I get credit and some cool prizes. My ad idea is a talking dog telling the owner why they should get these great new dog toys. The target demographic is 18 to 34 year old females. I need to settle on a breed to use for my ad, but I can't decide. The scene and lighting are essentially what will be in the finished product. Let me know which breed you think would be the best by voting. I selected my favorites for the poll, but feel free to comment.

Thanks in advance for the help...I'm way too indecisive!

Okay, they all looked creepy on that Youtube thing. But, if your demographic is younger women, I would go with the last one...the thing that sort of looked like a lab. Soft, cuddly...that's your pooch.

Dogs loved by women based on pictures alone must have lots of hair and floppy ears. (the worst kind usually! )

Go for the Golden Retriever ::barf:: or a Cocker Spaniel. ::barf::..

If you have one of these breeds, I'm sure it's a lovely animal, I just prefer something different.

Having said that, Mr. 4 dogs (moi) is now down to 1 and he's a...

Wait for it..

A GOLDEN RETRIEVER!

Sweet dog but as Southern women would say about him, "Oh bless his heart"

Good luck with the contest though :D

They're 3D models so they tend to look a little creepy sometimes. It's really hard to make the people look real!

Thanks for the input...

Cid, if you HAVE to use those models--the yellow lab -- the least creepy-- but ick!
sorry-- they are all sort of not great..however, wakey is totally wrong in his (?) assessment that women uniformly love dogs with floppy ears and lots of hair-frankly before i viewed I would've said boxer hands down (great dogs with great personalities) or a lab (same ting)

What Loria said. Do they have ANY fluffy models? Those were pretty masculine and none of them made me feel that awwwwwww factor.
I'm partial to Cockapoos.

of of teh ones you showed.....Yellow lab........

but I'd look for a more elegant dog that "goes" better with the background...the background is elegant/feminine and all the dogs are outdoorsy/masculine..... standard poodle, akita,,,,,,,

Since the dog will be talking, I would pick one with the most expressive face and unusual facial markings. You want your viewer to be drawn to the message, rather than thinking about the type of dog on the screen. When I watched the video, I was drawn to the faces of the bull terrier, parsons and German shorthair. Their facial markings are unusual, and the breeds haven't been over-advertised like some of the others.

Good luck.

I actually like the dalmation best...The dog's features stand out better. And they're all in the age bracket to know 101 Dalmations.

I also vote dalmatian, by far the least creepy!

Hey Everyone,

I very much appreciate you all taking your time to give me some feedback. It's interesting to me that most of you picked right up on some of the points I was thinking. There were also some good tips and things I hadn't thought of. I also tried to enroll my Facebook friends as well and got some good feedback there as well.

Unforutnately because of time constraints, furry and fluffy are out. Without being too technical, these 3D dogs would be considered one object (mesh)that is wrapped with a photo. When you do fur or hair, each strand is its own object. The more objects, the longer it takes the computer to handle them. Big studios like Lucasfilms use banks or "farms" of hundreds of computers that do all that complex work.

Anyway, keep all the feedback coming and I'll let you know which breed I use and of course whether I sell the ad! Thanks again...

Hey Loria I agree that there are no absolutes but with advertising you go with the numbers.

Reading my post today it sounds rather crass, not my intention.

Cid - out of curiousity, what type of dog toy are you trying to market? It may be more helpful to know which dog would best represent what you are trying to sell.
