Hello USVI online, I have used this board for reference since our first trip to St John at least 10 years ago. We have made 5 trips to St John and 1 trip to St Croix. Our first 2 stays on St John were at the Hyatt, when it was the Hyatt, the last 3 have been to villas. We are looking forward to another visit next week.

I know the Lime Inn has all you can eat shrimp on Wednesday nights. My question is, what other dining establishments have weekly specials? What night do they occur and what is the special?

Excellent question! Two years ago we went to "Greek night" at Tamarind Inn. I can't recall which night it was, but they had 3 or 4 other themed nights during the week (different chefs/cooks for each different cuisine). Can't recall the other cuisines, except Mexican. The prices were very reasonable. We love AYCE shrimp at Lime Inn too.

The Grand Buffet at Caneel on Monday nights is pretty good (all you can eat grilled lobster...yum...).

The owners of Sunnyledge rave about Prime Rib night at Maho on Fridays. We have never made it, but they swear by it.

I think Tuesday is lobster night at Morgan's Mango. No special price, but it's one night you know they have lobster on the menu, not necessarily the case on other nights.

We did AYCE sushi at Inn at Tamarind Court. It was FABULOUS and they were practically begging us to stop eating and leave by the end (though there was really nobody else in there). Here's a link to their specials on their website, but not sure if it's up-to-date or not. http://www.innattamarindcourt.com/restaurant.html They do put out a sandwich-board style sign every day telling you their specials.

I've been pimping The Inn At Tamarind Court since joining this forum but I've never read a thread about anyone visiting since.

I hope someone here gives them a try and shares their experience.

I've never stepped foot in their rooms, only had their food and it never disappointed.

Read some reviews for yourselves, just ignore pre 2007 or so reviews because they have new management since then. http://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1GGL ... rind+Court

Can anyone sup at the Grand Buffet on Monday nights? I looked around Caneel's website and couldn't find any mention of it. That sounds delightful!

Thats what I'm talking about! That Caneel Grand Buffet. I'll be there with the feed bag on. Vicki probably works in the Caneel marketing department with those great photos, I don't care, I am a sucker for food porn.

The food porn for Caneel's buffet looks fabulous. Does anyone know how much it costs?

I found online that it's $59 or $69 for the Monday night Grand Buffet.

haven't they been rotating "themes" at the Caneel Buffet? I'd call to see what the latest plans are there and also I don't think they have it during off season.

We have eaten at the Caneel buffet only twice - both for lunch; however, one of those times was for Mother's Day 2008. Both times the food was amazing but on Mother's Day, it was even more spectacular with a greater selection. It was a little more than the Grand Buffet at $75pp but well worth every penny. If you have not been there, do not miss out on the grapefruit vinegarette dressing and the key lime tarts!
