Looks like we will need to get from gate C to Gate A West for our Philly connection. I had no idea it was such a spread out airport.

Other than hoofing it, there appear to be some train track like structures on the map, but I can't tell if it's inside or outside of the security area.

Should we wear our running shoes?

I just looked at their website and I don't know what those "structures" are but every so often that have the moving walkways. But the answer to that question is yes. It's quite some distance between terminals. But don't panic. Everything is well marked out.
Baggage claim seems like miles away on the other hand...

It's within security -- and really not that far. Not close, but not that far. Concourse F is another story. If you land in F, the commuter terminal, you'd need to take a shuttle or go out beyond security and check back in.

Oh geeze. Of all the airports in all the world you had to connect in Philly? I suggest concentrating on the only thing you will have control over. Do NOT trust them to get your checked bags there with you. Go carry on only if humanly possible. Trust me on this.

If you must check a bag or two just make sure you have 2 days worth of stuff with you in a carry on. It sounds like you are no stranger to travel so you probably do that anyway but when connecting in Philly it is a MUST do.

OK...those are REAL railroad tracks that are not of any use to you! They're outside kind of at a lower level...can take you into the city but as I said no use to you.

You will be able to get from C to A-west on foot all within security. IF for some reason you are really pressed for time they do have electric carts w/ drivers to get you from point A to B .

All will be fine!!!

I find Philly airport is one of the easier airports to get around and Charlotte NC, Now MIAMI is a total nightmare...avoid that one.

Woof. Well, hopefully we will make the connection. We made a Newb mistake and there is only 1 hour and 10 minutes to get from Point C to Point A, if our first flight is ontime, which it is at least 50% of the time.

Worst that will happen is they put us on a flight to STT the following day, there are two flights with plenty of seats.

I already told the family we are going to stick to the Pirate Code while sprinting to the connecting flight: Those who fall behind get left behind.

Don't worry. If one of you is fast they can sprint to the gate and tell the attendant that your party is there. If he/she gets there in the nick of time then they will wait for the rest of you to catch up. Thank a merciful God that my first born has wings! I'm kidding a little but not completely. I am serious about having 2 days of supplies in carry on but that is just good sense on any flight....but especially Philly.

I totally agree with Agent99. Take some spare clothes
and toiletries.
We routed through here on our last trip the flight was late and we had to sprint across the airport to get our next flight, we just made it but our bags didnt and we had to wait until the next day to get them.

Our flight from Chicago to Philly was delayed about 20 minutes so they could de ice the wings.

The flight attendant recited all the connecting flights and gates and assured everyone that if they hauled a$$ they would make it.

We deplaned and my older dd charged up the ramp with a wild, fey light in her eyes. "I'll be damned if I'm going to miss that flight!" she exclaimed.

We made it with at least ten minutes to spare. It is quite a long walk from gate C to gate A west.

Our flight from Phi to STT left the gate on time but ended up sitting in traffic for 45 minutes before takeoff.
