djmom - when you do a quote, you don't see the "so and so said" in the coding, just on the finished product. Try doing a quote, then click "preview" at the bottom and see if you can see what it comes out like.

see what happened? I cut and pasted what you said and then I highlighted it and hit "quote"
so I am doing something wrong.

Ohhhhh... ok. If you are trying to quote what someone else said, then all you have to do is hit "QUOTE" in the upper right hand corner of their post and the reply page will open with the tags already in place for you.
When you do it the other way, it should only serve to set something off, like indented. Such as something you want to bring attention to:
This would be an example of highlighting this sentence and hitting "Quote" above.

Not everything is immediately obvious.
In that same corner you should see an "edit" button on your own posts, and that lets you go back to your original post and change it. If you see a box with an "X" that means that no one has posted after you and you still have the option to delete it completely. Once someone posts after you, that option goes away.

DJmom. You are not the only one. I have never thought of using quoting as described.
Never been to old to learn something new.
