Does anyone want to go on a "diet" with me?

I have less than 3 months before the trip. I am thinking ok, how about THINKING AHEAD and losing a few lbs gradually instead of starving myself, failing (again)and making myself miserable. I would like to lose 10 pounds before June 19. So that would work out to about a pound a week.

Anyone want to join me?

This is not for starvation. This is to add in some healthy habits and cut out some junk.

If you need to lose more, join in too! Just think, even if you need to lose a lot, how much better would you feel better losing 10 than none? Who knows maybe you will lose more, but I really am aiming here to go for steady slow loss that stays off.

I don't want to get on the island and drink a painkiller, have a few fries and it all comes back on in three days. That's what happens when you lose it fast. It's not real.

So what I am hoping for is some of us to get together and motivate each other to just be healthier, get outdoors, and not give up on a bad day or eat stuff that we really don't care about.

I'm in. I have five left to go (lost a little more than 15 so far, since last July). Slow and steady is the way to go. Goal is to have the last five off in the next two months.

Can a newbie join? I quit smoking in October and put on 30 pounds! A good portion of that needs to be gone in 60 days.
I have been at it for a week now, and lost 2 pounds. I'm not starving but on a very low fat diet.

Marcia- you are going to be a great motivator for us! That is the kind of weight loss I am talking about. I lost 16 last year very slowly. Unfortunately, I have been very lazy lately and in the last 2 months have gained about 6 back.

mindehankins-of course we want you! you should feel great that you quit smoking!

We need a name for our group....and more people of course, we are off to a good start!

I am going for a walk. The first one in a LONG time.

I can always stand to lose some weight. I've lost lots of inches with the trainer, but my eating still isn't great so I haven't lost lots of pounds. Everyone says I look better, but I still don't look good, you know?

It'd be nice to have people to motivate me. I also need to get more motivated by having less than a year to get ready for 8 Tuff Miles.

How about "Help! - We need to get rid of 3300 pounds of pepperoni"?

I'm in.... if I reduce my weight 15 - 20 pounds and I would feel so much better!

I try to not think in terms of "losing" because lost things always seem to have way of finding me...and for me with weight, there's usually some additional in the finding :-)

Should we start a Facebook group to communicate?

What about something like "Island Curves" as a name

Great ideas Bonnie.

How do we do that and is there any way we can make it so not anyone can join (from the outside). Like some pervert that is not from our forum.

Perverts from the forum are fine.

I have to be inclusive after my posting about the pepperoni last night.

By the way, I am back from my walk and I almost killed my dog. Really. He is still huffing after 30 minutes.

I feel guilty I have been such a bad pet owner. He is fat too.

I have PMS, and I went and found Chinese food. But it wasn't good Chinese food and they didn't give me that much.

I did drink 32 ounces of water with it. I'm sure the MSG sped that process along.

Well I think I get extra points for ensuring that the packaging on both lunch products actually matched.

I figure that the DIET soda actually cancels out the... (reaches for the half eaten cannister of Pringles)... 450 calories and 30 grams of fat that I just consumed.

At least I'm hoping that the caffeine will speed up the ole metabolism in the process...

Just sitting here waiting for the carb crash... I'll let you know how that works out for me.

Move along.

Nothing to see here....

:P

When your doc says you need to eat more green things ... I don't think he means the packaging ;-)

I will join you! John promised that if we both lost ten pounds before June he would add an extra week on to our summer trip. So, I have my motivation! I'm more interested in the exercise part though--I'm not giving up my wine, cheese, and butter...even for St. John.
