What are the best places that the locals like to go out and eat?

The best places that we've found have been on Coral Bay side...Shipwreck, Island Blues,Aqua Bistro...all very good. Fun people, locals, sailors. Just great times, good food all three are perfect. Good luck...have a wonderful time. Envious here in 35 degree temps.

Transplant locals or native locals?

Mostly where native locals go. I assume the food would be more authentic and less crowded at those types of places?

For West Indian style food there is;
Shela's Pot by the ferry dock next to the pavilion. No seating, but you can grab a plate and sit in the park. She does lunch for the most part.
P & P By the Sea, on Moorehead Point. Call first to see if they are serving. They do dinner and lunch and you can eat in.
Candie's BBQ between Santos Laundry and the Marketplace. Mostly takeout, but there are tables to sit at. Calling in ahead of time is a good idea. Ask how long it will take and have it ready when you get there.
Uncle Joe's BBQ across from Cap's Place. Good idea to call them early. They run out of food often.
Hercules, not too far from Joe's... up the street a bit.
A Taste of Love City Mobile Kitchen across from the entrance to the car barge area. They usually have their menu near the road on a dry erase board. I like their johnny cakes a lot!
There is a "Rasta-urant" near the basketball courts, (can't remember the name right now...we always call it Ling's place, that is who runs it). Take the road across from the gas station in Cruz Bay. It is just around the corner on your right. They don't have any meat, but everything I've eaten from there has been fantastic. Not always open, but try around lunch time weekdays.
Fire Foods in Coral Bay at the triangle. There are renovating right now, but should re-open soon. As their name states...the food is in delicious hot "sauce".
Tamarind Court has a West Indian night as well. I cannot remember what day it is right now, but you can look that up in the Sun Times (pick up a free copy when you get here).

Also in Cruz Bay---we always get to Sogo's for dinner. Another daytime spot is Patrick's truck/stand in the parking lot across from the post office. And Mooie's is a good place to have a drink and a very local experience.

In Coral Bay, in addition to the small operations at the triangle, the Sputnik bar has good local food sometimes. The Sputnik is also a very good place to stop for a drink and a local experience. They have live music some nights.

In the east end, Vie's is open for lunch most (but not all) days. She's gotten quite popular over the years (sometimes to her dismay).

I often find Mooies all boarded up like it's gone out of business. What's up with that? I'd think with it's location, it would be a $$ maker. Maybe Ms. Mooie just works when she wants to. How nice would that be?
