Trying to look on the bright side of not being on STJ

I know we're not the only couple who skipped their trip to STJ this year for economic reasons. Our anniversary was yesterday and it's the first time in 6 yrs we didn't get to spend it on island.
I've been working really hard not to be depressed about it. Sometimes it seems, things happen for good reason.
Darn good thing we were home yesterday. Went to the basement to get laundry and discovered 3 inches of water due to the bottom of the hot water heater rotting out. So instead of lounging on the beach it was Shop-Vacing water and replacing the water heater.
Thank goodness the local Home Depot had just 1 of ours left in stock.
So I've conviced myself it was better we were here when it happened. I couldn't even imagine the nightmare of coming home to a weeks worth of water in the basement instead of just a few hours worth.
So strange though it may seem, a broken hot water heater made me feel better about not being in STJ this year.
