I was sort of surprised by the success and popularity of this thing - it gets so much ink, but unlike something like the iPod or iPhone which seem to be everywhere, I have seen just one of these in real life...

Anthony, do you have any idea if the wireless works in the USVI? My understanding that it is via ATT and that they only guarantee CONUS telecom.

Interesting - I will check it out.

From Amazon customer discussion last June:

"I understand that the Kindle also works in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Hawaii, and Guam. I do not know whether or not it works in American Samoa."

But they may be old since it sounds like this new one is 3G? Or is it multi-band?

The main product page should have more technical specs - I don't see this kind of info mentioned anywhere... well I see there is a PDF you can download (lame).

I read something yesterday that they are going to be sued over the text to speech technology in this version -
