Exploring St. Thomas

Well, we will be taking our second trip to STT seven weeks from today! Last time, we spent most of our time in the Red Hook area. This trip, we are renting a car and want to check out areas we didn't see last time. Does anyone have suggestions on where to go and also, where NOT to go? I don't want to wind up in a bad section. Oh yeah, we will also be taking a day trip (or two) to STJ if anyone has info. Best snorkeling?
