Day 3.....breakfast at the 'villa'....met up with our new friends from Iowa at 10:30am downtown. They took us to the place they are staying at and they really lucked out. It's an older home but it has fabulous views from every room in the house. Two bedrooms on either end with a living room/kitchen in the center. The porch wraps all around the front. There is an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand from the beach and the master bathroom is like being in a rain forest. The front part of the bathroom has the sink/toilet, etc and then you step across these terra cotta stepping stones surrounded by foliage into a shower area that looks out to St. Thomas. There is a tiny splash pool and at least two tables with huge umbrellas . They took us around to show us where some of the other houses they looked at before they found this one - most of them out by Contant Point/Chocolate Hole area. We took a ride out to Skinny's for lunch and some shopping and then out to Sloop Jones studio. They dropped us off in town. We had dinner at La Tapa which was outstanding!
Day 4....we broke down and rented a jeep wrangler. Packed up a lunch and headed out to Maho Bay. O yes, now this is what I'm talking about! Probably our favorite place on earth. Chilled out there for most of the day and headed back to town around 3pmish. Stopped at Mongoose Junction, had a cocktail at Gecko Gazebo, came home, showered and headed out again. Dinner reservations at Wharfside Bistro at 7:30. Stopped at Morgan's Mango for a cocktail and a little something to nibble on. Dinner at Wharfside was I'm sad to say just 'okay'. We shared an app of veal sweetbreads which was good but nothing in comparison to the sweetbreads I had at La Tapa on Tuesday night. The special fish preparation was fresh wahoo pan seared served atop coconut jasmine rice with a vanilla cream sauce and sweet peas. It was good just did now have the 'wow' factor. Sounded better than it tasted.
Anyway, here we are back at the 'villa'.
