Italy Day 7

Italy Trip Day 7
Up today headed down for our first breakfast in the new hotel it is more along the lines of a Italian breakfast pastries and coffee you could get espresso or cappuccino if you wanted I'm not a coffee drinker so just a pastry and some orange juice for me. We don't have any plans today or anywhere we have to be just wander and see where we end up.
First it is off to the market I was so amazed by it yesterday had to go back. The meat vendors on the first floor had so many great things to look at. From the chickens with the heads and feet still on to all the hams and sausages hanging from the ceiling to the seafood that looked so fresh. I wish I had got a picture of the cow and sheep faces it was the skin all dehaired and cleaned from the heads of those. Everything was so clean I wanted to pick up some porcini mushrooms to bring back but decided to wait till later in the week Kathleen spotted a olive wood cutting board for my brother who was watching her dog but she decided to wait too.
We headed up stairs to the veggie dealers what bright colors and some things we didn't know what they were.
We went to the Duomo the colors of all the marble on the outside is such a contrast to the all white churches of Rome. When they started the church they didn't have the knowledge to build the dome so there was a hole in the roof of the church till an architect with the skills came around. It was built around the old smaller church you can go down stairs and see all the old foundations.
We headed toward the Pitti Palace but on the way there we came across gelato so we had to have one to tie us over.
At the Pitti palace we toured the gardens first as they close first. The views of the city were great being winter there wasn't a lot of flowers but the shrubbery was outstanding. With my favorite statue of the trip.LOL

In the palace you could tour the living quarters of the Royal family the way these people lived they sure weren't second class citizens. How they heated these rooms with the tall ceilings and all the marble with just fireplaces to heat them.
We headed back across the river came across a shop selling fresh made waffles covered in chocolate. Kathleen wanted one. Today's tip ask how much they are before you ask for one I think I was 8 euro but Kathy was happy so it was priceless. The Ponte Vecchio bridge all lit up with its gold shops lining it was a neat sight to see.
We tried to go to a restaurant close to our hotel but it was closed so we ended up in one Nazionale just around the corner from Faenza the meal was great and the owner was so nice. I had the Tucson style beans a with boars sausage. Tried my first lemonchelo here what a great after dinner drink.
