It's new on the rental market. Has anyone stayed here or know of it?? It's supposed to be really close to Cruz Bay.

I didn't see the villa but I did meet the dog, Schatzi, when we stayed at Argonauta. Her owner walked her everyday past our villa. She is a HUGE dog but seemed pretty tame. Sort of...

I actually like the idea of the crazy dog as I might be doing this trip solo and might make me feel better.

Gymnastika - For a solo trip I'd highly recommend staying at Lavender Hill. You can walk into town, there's lots of room for the kids to explore, a pool (a chance to meet other kids

) other people nearby (safety), and yet I've found it to be relatively quiet (especially since they moved the car barge). That's where I've spent my solo trips with the remora. I'd also consider Gallows Point, but I'm not sure it's worth the exta $.
Happy travels

Two trips? And one in March - I'm jealous! We'll just miss you - we arrive 3/15. Caneel, you say? Do you need a nanny?
It's a sad state of affairs when a grown woman reads "solo trip" and immediately thinks "with child/children, sans spouse". My solo trips consist of visits to the gym and Stop and Shop.

If Sugar Bird is next to Argonauta, it has one of the best views on the west side, and an easy drive to town. Still not sure of that dog.........just kidding....almost

aaahhh....like the sound of that view!!
Yeah, you know when you do the math, staying a week at Caneel (@275/nite) is a better deal than a villa with a pool that I could afford (which is generally under $2000). Granted, you don't have a kitchen and your digs are smaller (although the premium courtside is really BIG) but then again, it's CANEEL!!! "Good morning! Turtle Beach, please."

If I were going by myself, I'd go Caneel in a heartbeat. I like alone time, but not in a villa by myself. Every sound would be some wierdo coming to kill me. NO thank you, I need to sleep at night. Besides, who can argue with those Caneel beaches and bars.

I agree, but ahem, for a price! I can't cough up high season prices at Caneel! I am staying for a really good rate at this place and also the owners are close by. and hey, i've got a rotweiller.

Hi Gymnastika,
I am a neighbor of Sugar Bird Nest and have been in the main house very often and seen the apartment downstairs which used to be in the long term market. Beautiful location on Contant Hill, next door to Argonauta. Fantastic view and private, but 5 minutes from Cruz Bay. The owner is recently widowed and that's why she put the apartment on the rental market. She knows everything about the island and loves to share; wonderful lady. Her dog, Schatzi, is an absolute sweetheart and will adopt you if you stay.
The apartment is comfy and sparkling clean; I think it's one of the best values in St John. Be happy to give you more info if you email me.
Jmarstonpa.
