Stupid question for ladies with iphones

Do any of you have longer nails? I tried to use my friends when they first came out and I had trouble because of my nails, it was not with apps so much but with testing and typing.
I am sick of my BlackJack, it just doesn't do everything I want it to, but the touch screen seems to be my obstacle. Any thoughts?

Not a stupid question, X. I don't have long nails but I do remember reading about iphones and this issue ... The touchscreen actually needs bare finger to touch it to work. The electrical impluse of your skin is what makes it go. In the simpliest of terms.

Here's an article with the more: http://iphone.click2creation.com/2008/1 ... ens-nails/

A stylus won't work with the iphone. It just doesn't respond at all unless it is your actual fingerpad. Something about the screen detecting the electrical impulse.

It is nice in a way that your phone doesn't accidentally turn on or click here there and every where when in your pocket or purse. I could see it being a little awkward to type with long nails. I think a lot of women were in the habit of typing with the tips of their nails and that just doesn't work at all.

Yes, it needs the touch of actual skin to work....if you have a glove on, you have to take it off.

I keep my nails pretty short; they bother me if they grow too long. However, I've noticed that when they have grown too long to type comfortably (on a computer keyboard) I have NOT noticed any problem using my phone. And I use it a lot.

Why don't you go to an Apple Store and check one out for yourself ? good luck

Hi X!

I can certainly answer your question since I DO have long nails and use the iPhone. I have never had a problem. If your use to having long nails you learn to work with them no matter what your doing. I love my iphon and my nails have never been in the way.

Just get one. You will love it and you will work out the nail thing.
Trust me here.

Unless you have Starfish-checkout-lady finger nails, it should work just fine.

you DO get used to the typing.

however, there seem to be two types of people: iphone lovers and crackberry heads..... if you do a lot of texting, messaging, blackberry seems to be the phone of choice. the new ones do have great little keypads that are so easy to type on
