Ok,it's so cold here today that when my husband closed his car door the window shattered. Are you kidding me???? He had an important meeting, so he took my car and I'm left trying to get his window fixed in -35 degree weather. Get me outta here!

Five months and five days, five months and five days, five months and five days.............

McDomzal-- you may want to ask ScubaGirl how she copes... I think they're used to -15 temps up where she lives in Canada!

mcdomzal - yikes! I've never heard of that either. I had meetings downtown today that are being done by phone so that we could all stay in our home offices. I'm wearing my long sleeve rash guard today because I have serious island withdrawal.

I'm envious that you have a ticker! I'll be leaving tomorrow... for a ski weekend in northern Wisconsin! Are we nuts?! I'm bringing a large box of "Hotties" foot warmers.

Not to worry - Global Warming will prevent that from ever happening again...Have no fear.

This morning we had wind chills -45F. All the kids are home from school today and probably tomorrow. It is so cold that if you take a glass of water outside and throw it up in the air - it freezes and comes down as tiny ice crystals. Its pretty fun to see, but then you have to run back inside to warm up!! Dreaming of Cinnamon Bay where I could throw up a cup of sand and have it come down as sand!!

On my way into work today, the outside temp read 8. Wind chills will certainly make that go well below zero. That weather from the midwest is now headed our way. Can someone make a few phone calls for me and make it stop please?

156 days......... 8)

Sounds like you'll be arriving the same day I leave. "4 months and 28 days" sounds really close, thanks for making me think that. I drove 4 minutes away to get lunch and my hands were burning from the cold...

I don't get why all of the schools are closed. It is
-10 but so what. Wimps! :?
When I was a kid they never cancelled school for
-10. (Oh no, I sound like an old person saying that!).

Oh come on now it's a balmy -5...just pretend that wind chill doesn't matter...just like humidity doesn't matter in the summer...yeah right

Saw this online:

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning until noon Friday. The forecast high for Thursday is expected to linger in the negative range at -2, dropping to -15 overnight. Strong northwest winds are producing wind chill factors of -25 to -40.

The last time the low was colder than -10 was Jan. 5, 1999, when it was a bone-chilling -16. Highs Thursday afternoon may also remain just below zero. If the high fails to reach zero, it would be the first time since Feb. 3, 1996, when the high was -5.

My brother in law in northern Wisconsin is used to this, but I think he's crazy to live so far north.

I cannot believe your husband's windshield shattered!!

Hey guys. Just back from STJ. While we were gone, it was actually -40! Yikes. Glad we missed that! Now it is +50! It rained and school has been cancelled for two days! The place is like a skating rink. It's way preferred over -40. However, it will never beat the last few weeks at 85 in paradise.
