Pretty pleased with airfare for Spring trip

Just booked our air for our Spring trip and I think it's pretty dang good: $650.00 for two, r/t. Yes, that's only $325.00 per person, r/t. I'm not sure we've ever had fares that low in the 9 years we've been going to STJ. This is through USAir. Hopefully, they will stay afloat for the next four months and it will actually happen.
Note: in selecting seats, there were a boatload available so, that's kind of scary...
In related news, the "park/sleep/fly" that we did last year in Chicago (Holiday Inn Select ~ it rocks!) is considerably less expensive this year.
There are some deals to be had, if you have the cash flow to travel right now.

Wow! I keep checking to see if the rate I paid for our spring trip will go down. No luck so far. I hate AA.

AA had the highest fares out there. But, as you know, that certainly could change!

That is a fantastic fare. I think you should apply the savings to a boat trip.

Great rates! I am jealous. I paid a lot more for June.

That's a great price. Wish I was so lucky!
Airlines are really grinding my gears right now with their cancellation/change regulations. We booked months ago for March for about $600/ticket (includes all the taxes). At the time I just kept seeing prices going up so I grabbed what I could on Continental. Now the price has dropped on Continental but not enough to cover the $150/ticket they would charge to rebook . Because that's what they call it-a cancellation and a rebooking, even if it's the exact same flight/seats everything. Ignore the fact they've had my money for 8 months.
I had to book a work flight to Nashville a few months ago for February. A week after I booked my company told me I had to fly in a day earlier for a board meeting. That cost me an extra $150 too-to cancel and rebook 1/2 the flight. I can understand a cancellation fee so that people don't "hold" seats and then cancel w/ a better price elsewhere, but when you're rebooking on the same airline? Come on, am I missing something? How am I costing the airlines $150 just to punch a few buttons on a computer. Arrggh!
It doesn't seem right to me
Sorry, there's my Friday night gripe.

Marcia! That's fantastic! It's sure been a crap shoot over the past few months watching the airfares and trying to decide whether or not to wait for prices to go down. I'm glad it worked in your favor!

I totally agree with you. Pete and I were just talking about that. Let's not do that goofy sunset sail again this time though.

We fly out on a Sunday and return on a Monday, staying for 15 nights. Odd days but that's because of the villa rental.

marcia,
We are going end of april. Leaving from Ohare also. What hotel are you doing the park and fly from. We have a 8 am flight and are thinking of staying over the night before so we dont have to get up so early.
great job on the airfare, we are booked on united. Good news is its a direct flight down to stt. Bad new we paid about 100 more pp than you did.

Hey Nancy,
I looked at that United non-stop and decided against it because of the cost; the USAir flights (with a stop in Charlotte on the way down and a stop in Philly on the way home) were $400.00 less (total for two of us). Plus, I like the flight times better anyway with USAir.
Back to your question. We have stayed at just about every single park and fly in Chicago and the best BY FAR is the Holiday Inn Select. Prices are all about the same but this place actually has a fantastic restaurant on site, very nice rooms and wonderful, reliable shuttle service to ORD. If you want contact info, I'll be happy to provide that for you. We stay there on our return date, too because after that full day of travel, we do not want to drive another 2 & 1/2 hours at 10:00 pm to get home.

Airfares are getting pretty low. I booked DC to STT last June (when I thought fares would spiral upward due to fuel costs) for $453pp. For travel this May/June, the same flights are down to $318pp.
Bummer for us, but great for others!

Flip FLop and I also got great rates four our respective crews. $150 each way! It hasn't been THAT cheap in a while!
