Maryanne,

Funny you should bring this up. I was just talking to my sister about this. Her daughter had to go from Boston to Sarasota to Kansas City (then a drive from Kansas City to Cedar Rapids) then from Cedar Rapids back to Boston. The best way to make this happen, and the least expensive, was going through a travel agent. Sounds kind of "old school" but, sometimes it's the best way.

Thanks for the help---I guess I didn't phrase my question correctly. I do know that all sites provide a way to book multiple cities. However, although I have usually just booked flights using miles via the AA website, I have been aware that many people book flights through big online websites and then later have problems. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good, all-around website that is good for booking flights and then dealing with problems if you come up against them later. Thanks.

Many websites, other than the airline's home website, charge a hefty penalty or fee if you need to cancel or change your airline ticket. Last I knew, Orbitz was owned by several of the airlines, but still has cancellation fees for many items. Expedia has cancellation fees hidden in their fine print for everything from air to hotel to car rental cancellations. These sites are 3rd party sites, independent from the airlines and make a bunch of money collecting cancellation fees or change fees.

From my experience, shop on all those "other" websites, build your itinerary, then book directly on each individual airline's website. Each airline's home website has the most up-to-date flight schedule.

As for using a travel agent, it's a very safe way to go. You may pay a slight fee since airlines do not pay commission any longer to agents, but those agents know what they're doing. You will rest assure you are getting what you want.

Good luck!
