On fresh pasta, I have the Kitchenaid attachment that came with a options pack. The extruder works as well as any of those do, with poor results. The roller works well, but is hard to get running at a manageable speed. The manual roller/cuttter works much better than the Kitchenaid attachment.

Cheers, RickG

I made the JD cake you posted on the What to do with Rum thread. I put a chocolate glaze on it. Fabulous! :D

Thanks for the recipe!

Joyce
I'm just checking in here after a bit of a diet-induced absence. I don't think y'all want a picture of my salad and lean cuisine with pineapple tidbits, although it was lovely. Really.

Joyce, I am glad you liked the cake. I made all my Christmas cookies this year (OK, I have two batches left to make this week, plus two batches of candy), but I decided not to make the JD cake, because I don't trust myself with a dessert that combines my two favorite things -- whiskey and chocolate. I don't even really trust myself with whiskey.

I did make rum balls. They were super-yummy. I had one. Don't tell my trainer.

Maybe I will take a picture of one of my famous cookie trays once I get finished with them.

I made the bourbon nuts and they seem a little chewy to me - not crunchy. What did I do wrong?

I made those too last night Marybeth and had the same problem. I was about to toss them out then I thought we'll let me cook them some more. I threw them back no the cookie sheets and did about 20 minutes more, shaking at the 10 minute interval --- and I cranked the heat up to 350.

Nice and crunchy now!

Thanks Rick. I guess I'll take a pass on the pasta attachment. I still want the mixer though!

Here is some recent stuff.

Pasta with arugula and sausage:

I made some cookies yesterday. I don't usually make cookies, but I saw this recipe in the globe and it sounded really good. Toffee shortbread with chocolate and pecans:

My all time favorite chowder--corn and cheddar, with a popover:

That corn chowder looks SO great.. How nice it would be to cook some to enjoy during this neverending snowstorm but I have to now go to a party that was rescheduled from Friday night, because of said neverending storm....

Some gingerbread cookies... I usually make a lot of cookies but I'm just not into it this year. Tomorrow I ice the rest--a lof of little men--- with a young friend.

I just made Liamsaunt's chowder, but substituted the corn for chopped broccoli. Very easy and very tasty!

last night we had our Girlfriend's Christmas party. We had this for one of our appetizers. Some sort of sausage rolls in the shape of a tree

And this is a pound cake. Cute!

MaryBeth, the sauce is made from cream, parmesean cheese, some of the pasta cooking water, and cracked black pepper.

That cake is adorable!

What are the Palmiers?? And, where's the Cranberry Tart?

Christmas dinner was rather boring at my house - ham, green bean casserole, glazed carrots and some screwed up potatoes.

That's better than what I had. Chicken noodle soup & wheat thins! (but then again, I'm sick)
