My mom still talks about the chowder we got in a sourdough bread bowl at the wharf. YUMMMMMMM.

don't get me wrong, i've had some good bread here. but the bread in europe is different. i don't know if it's the water or the air or the magic touch of europeans but a baguette is more like an entree than a sidenote in europe.

If I read this correctly some here consider me to be rude for reclining my seat when allowed. I am also rude if I am wide in stature and find it difficult to fit into one seat because I minimize the comfort of the person next to me. But if I am tall I am not rude to ask the person in front of me to minimize their comfort to allow me more leg room or if I wish to watch DVD's inflight the person in front of me should be uncomfortable for my sake.
If you wish to have all the legroom you want then you should consider popping for first class or requesting a different seat from the attendant. There are also rows in each plane that do not have reclining seats in front of them. I recline politely and only when allowed. If asked to remain upright for a reasonable excuse I would do so. I have never had a complaint from behind. If I were to come across a childlike person who wishes to kick my seat repeatedly I would ask the flight attendant to try to rectify the situation. I don't feel flying in coach is "all about me" I know that we are all cattle pushed into a confined space and forced to endure for the length of the flight. I have never read in an inflight magazine that it is proper etiquette not to recline. I have never seen the attendant include in their pre-flight instructions that reclining is a no-no. Perhaps the airlines should have the left side of the aircraft for non-recliners and the right side for recliners. Or maybe we should all be polite, civil and get to our destination with as little grief as possible.

And yes both in France and Italy you can get very good bread. Much better than we have found in Spain. I don’t know why.

Waterguy, I have never been in Florence, but wish to go there some day. I have been in Venice, which is a wonderful place and have visited different places near Lake Garda.

i understood this to be persons who recline fully when there is very little room on planes--I recline but only a bit--I quite literally have had persons in my lap on long hauls--i don't say anything, because that is the way the seat was built. HOwever, I do think if we are all stuck up there together it's nice to show some courtesy to the people around you and be aware of the space you occupy--

my husband on the other hand, pops an ambien and goes to sleep!

Can I get me one of them Ambien?

I SOOOOOO wish I could sleep through a flight.

I've never been able to. Even on a 14 hour flight from Japan I could only catnap for 20 mins at a time.

That sucked ass.

yeah....i am the same way. and i cannot take ambien--i tried once and it turns out that i am one of those persons that sleepwalk and all on ambien--I was told that i was totally out of control when we landed in zurich enroute to lisbon--somehow i ended up with about 10 lbs of chocolate that i just HAD to HAVE....
i remember none of this....... so when my husband was totally peeved at me when we arrived in Lisbon (which i thought was Zurich) i was like 'who peed in your cornflakes???'




so, no more ambien for me....i will send you my share!

Thank you for clarifying that for me.

Everytime I get on a plane now, wherever I go, I will be nervous that someone from this forum will be on the same plane and something will happen to me if I recline my seat.
