That NP thread got me going.
Due to conditions of sand and water in the canyon I wanted a waterproof camera for the trip. I got a decent Minolta that would also double as a snorkeling camera, it shot film, this was in the 2001 timeframe. Used it once in USVI, and then on that trip, but sadly we were robbed in Alaska and lost that among other things. I replaced it with a digital.
Bottom line is I have a couple of albums filled with those shots, and went through them after the other thread. Had to scan them first before making them available, not something I've done much, so it took me a few tries.
If you go, count on things getting wet and sandy, prepare accordingly. Two of our guides were professional photographers and had bunches of expensive equipment. While they took care as much as possible, they said they have to get them cleaned regularly and periodically replace items much sooner due to the conditions. They just consider it a cost of doing business, so to speak. You've been warned, plan accordingly.
