I had another "name" once that was more creative, but apparently that sort of thing just happens once. :)

Also, one of my grandfathers was Scottish and played the bagpipes. He often said that their sound was perfect for the somber, the lonely, and the hopeful.

that took me a long time to figure out! I can't tell what your avatar is but I always thought it was a jet ski or something and somehow your name was related - LOL
That's funny. It's actually just me on one of the lounges at Caneel Hawksnest beach.

Just my initials. Not creative at all.

I'm another initial person - JWC. However, this thread has me thinking about coming up with a much more interesting forum name. Unfortunately creativity is not my strong point. Let's just say I understood Lex's explanation - completely.

It was this, Laura Petrie or Trixie Norton.

Count me in as another bagpipe lover. They get me verklempt, though. Can't explain why.

Dual meaning ...

I LOVE (read: am obsessed with) flip-flops. The only thing I like better than being in flip-flops is running around in my bare feet. HATE real shoes.

And secondarily, I sometimes have a hard time making up my mind!

I think bagpipe music can be haunting, really beautiful. I love it.

As for Teddy Salad -- I'm a huge Monty Python fan! Grew up watching it (and "No Honestly") with my dad. Great warped humor. I actually used the clip from Holy Grail, where they try using the Trojan Rabbit, in a training presentation to about 700 sales people. They never forgot it!

Just a nickname given to me on my soccer team years ago.

We had five guys named Steve on that team, so we were looking for a way to call one, and only one of us, and the nicknames seemed to do the trick.

There are still people that I used to play against that I run into from time to time that call me Augie, as well as some of my closest friends.

Copied from original thread:

"Hey Mary Beth,
You have the same birth date as my first born daughter, Melissa....in what year were you born?Melissa was born in 1972....she passed in 2001.

My forum name "mia"....Melissa's favorite movie is Life Is Beautiful; she loved the way Roberto Begnini would greet his love...."Buon Giorno, Miaprincipessa"
I always like to picture her repeating that line....her smile, her eyes, the way it just rolled off her tongue. I shortened it to "mia" for my forum name, so everytime I write it, I see Melissa smiling for me in my mind's eye....mia"

The bagpipes have very special meaning to me...we had a bagpiper play at Melissa's Celebration of Life Memorial Service. I could feel Melissa smiling down on us as the bagpiper played....while the firefighters from our town and surrounding towns, all in full dress, walked down the church aisle...mia
