Actually, the shuttle has just re-emerged in the news. The NPS is trying to get a proposal out of the taxi association, but if that doesn't work out they will negotiate with VITRAN. We had, for many, many years, Herman Sprauve and his big yellow safari bus, making the Cruz Bay to Cinnamon run-- on the hour, for a dollar. He also had a contract with Caneel to carry employees (Including those at Cinnamon and Trunk) for free, for a set amount Caneel paid monthly. Ah, the good old days...

Wow, a North Shore shuttle would be great. I'd use the hell out of something like that. Getting back from Maho via taxi is hard, we routinely pick people up. Sometimes they're forumites.

Change looks threatening, but I think that real parking lots will make things a lot safer. But, I'll still get to Maho early to get a prime east end parking spot on the wide part of the beach.

Cheers, RickG

In general, I think a lot of us are destroying our planet and STJ is becoming the reality of that.
I have looked as this statement about everyway I can think of to look at it and for the life of me I cannot figure out how anyone could construe that statement, in the abstract, as being political. Now if one always thinks only in terms of everything being political, or if one only views statements in the context of who the speaker is, then maybe I could understand that. But to characterize those words as being political is a stretch, IMO.

Sox, you just TRY to make a political statement of whatever post you choose.

I still stick by my post and if you think it was a political statement, you are sadly mistaken.

I should know. I wrote it.

I'd seen this thread grow and ignored it. Thank the Maker I decided to pop in.

I love me a good forum train wreck. Haven't had one in a while.

I brought beer! Who wants one?

Can't y'all just take it somewhere else? I don't think the original poster intended that this be a controversial or polarizing topic.

I will gladly post a thread where you can all argue about who started what and when. You will find it in the Off Topic section of the forum.

liamsaunt wrote:I was reading the Tradewinds this afternoon and noticed that there is a story explaining plans to renovate the facilities at Maho this summer (not the campground, the bigger beach). 50 parking spaces--2 lots with 25 spaces at each end of the beach, restrooms, picnic tables and grills.

I don't know...is there enough room on the beach for the people that would be coming in that many cars? Where would they put the picnic tables? The beach doesn't seem wide enough to accommodate tables.

What do you think?
I think your right about the tables on the beach. They have a couple tables on Francis. Unfortunatley one of the tables is rotting badly and is an eyesore on the sand and lunch for the ants. Forget the tables. For my part forget the grills also. Then you have the problem of disposing of old coals and rusting steel. As I said before, I think the parking is a good idea both for safety and asthetics and also as Hugo mentioned, environment. It would keep people off the plants along the beach and roadway. It SHOULD also help with liter control as the NPS should be there regularly to empty trash containers.

Ya know I'm probably at fault here for my little political statement but I really was just kidding around, that was what the  was for. Anyhoots I must admit I am entertained by these kinds of posts and how they morph into something else. None of them bother me, everyones entitled to their opinions. To me it helps keep the forum interesting. Look now we are talking about North Shore shuttles. Go with the flow people it's just a forum, don't take all this stuff so personally.
Hey pip a beer does sound pretty good right now, actually I'll have a couple since your buyin :D
