WOW! As always a fantastic report and beautiful pictures. But, really not quite as funny as the people you end up traveling with, a rather sedate report, wouldn't you agree? Thank you for sharing it with us.

Vicki,

Thanks for a great trip report. We are headed to Caneel on Saturday, and I hate to admit that I have not been excited at all yet, until reading your TR.

I am finally starting to get the buzz. I usually have no trouble.

Your TR was great, and the pics were perfect.

I think I am hitting up Jewels for my own father's day gift when I get there, thanks for the nudge in that direction as well.

Hoping to have a very interesting TR of my own in two weeks as this is our first trip to St.J with the 3 kids.......I hope you left some Rum on the Island

I sooo enjoyed reading this and love every single photo you shared! Thanks ;)

You made me chuckle quite a few times too, thanks again.

I had that same childhood toy as well, but...my cow went cocka-doodle-doo!!!

Take care.
Kathy

It's tough to add any superlative adjectives that haven't already been written.

I'll just add that I've been somewhat apathetic about an upcoming trip to St. John over New Year's. Thanks to your pictures and your report, a significant dent has been made in that apathy.
Good grief woman how do you eat (and drink) like that and stay so thin? I practically starve myself and exercise all the time to stay in shape and I’m definitely not 102 lbs. You must be like 4'8" right?
I think I have figured out your diet. You only eat when on STJ. No wonder you have to go so often!.
Thank god for your fast metabolism Vicki.

[sighs...]

It's evident from your pictures that you and your husband make health and fitness a priority in your lives. Kudos for your discipline and your efforts.

okay, it has taken me two days to read your trip report, reading a little each time, as I would find a quiet moment away from the kids. and...I LOVE IT! You are so funny and witty!

and by the way, the new iphone is supposed to have a cut and paste feature!!

Another great trip report! Your pictures are so vivid. Hope you enjoyed your alone time with Matt and no high maintenance companions :) .

One question for you and I know there is not a perfect answer. How much was the car rental on Jost and do you think it was worth it for the time you could be there with the ferry schedule? I'm just wondering too how much a taxi to Sidney's would be for lunch. I have no concept of the distance on land. While I like the food on White Bay, I thought Sidney's was much better. Taboo wasn't too shabby either.

Hey Brenda- I hope you don't mind if I respond to this since I'm doing this next week-end...

Car rental is between $60-$70 for the day.

Depending on the number of people you have and where you want to go taxi fares can add up quickly ($5-7 pp each way per trip) to the popular spots.

If you just want to go to Soggy Dollar for the day to drink and hang out then don't bother renting a car- save the $$$ for the painkillers and you just have to be sober enough to get on the ferry and get thru customs without getting arrested.

But if you want to explore and there's at least two of you then it might be worth your while to just rent a car for the day IMHO.
