Have you ever heard of BBQ Slaw? I am getting the recipe later. It had cabbage of course, pimento, diced tomato, vinegar, and maybe sugar. That on a bun, some que, and a little Kansas City style sweet sauce was killer. And the view at Hawksnest wasn't bad either. I am not joking it was the best 'sammich' I have had yet. And I have had a few too many.

I just had saliva spurt into my mouth at that image. Yum! I need to get the smoker fired up.
I'm doing bbq duty for MASHOUT again this year - pork shoulder and beef should clod for 200 on top of a mountain with 25 kegs of awesome craft brew and 75 kegs of homebrew with Tom Principato playing after dinner. Tom called in January and asked if he could come again for the BBQ! Here's last year's spread:
We're hitting Macon for the family reunion in July. I'm going to enjoy heading back to Fincher's for bbq and Brunswick Stew.
Cheers, RickG

Here are some food photos from the last week..but first I have to say all you boys' BBQ looks terrific--I love the smell of BBQ!
These are soy braised chicken wings, they tasted just like the wings I ate as a kid:

This is a white and green asparagus, wild mushroom dish, with poached eggs, a garlic crouton, and hollandaise:

After that, the week went downhill. All sandwiches, all the time.
Sausage and peppers:

Disgustingly rare burger, John's favorite:

These grilled tuna cubes were AMAZING. The recipe is in Mario Batali's new book, Italian Grill:

Last thing...I tried to make the Tage tarragon white chocolate souffle again last night. This time I tried infusing tarragon in cream for 2 hours on low heat. STILL not right. Does anyone know...is there a tarragon liqueur? I did get the brickle right, here is my marcona almond praline:

It's too bad Ted isn't one of those people who will share recipes. I have tried to make his spinach salad dressing but something's missing.
Here is a dessert recipe that uses Tarragon Cream---after the infusion, the leaves are ground in as well.

Yesterday's Father's Day shish-ke-bobs (freshly place on the grill so not cooked yet):
The cooked pictures didn't come out good.
I wish that I was a cookbook photographer like Liamsaunt!
I made a teriyaki marinade for the beef and I could never reapeat the recipe but it did have Cruz Bay grill rub in it!

Yes, it is a pear-almond tart. I have not actually eaten it yet...hopefully it is still good!
X, the pizza was really good. I'd never put pears on a pizza before, but it tasted terrific.

Was that garlic scape recipe from the NY Times? I printed that out. How was it?
Also, did you get garlic scapes at the Farmer's Market at Copley ?? I was going to look for them...

Hi Maryanne, yes, it was. I had to add a lot more lemon to the dish than the recipe called for.
We also made the roasted garlic-arugula-pancetta pasta from that article--it was AWFUL. I threw it out.
Yes, the scapes are from Copley. Atlas Farms has them (stand closest to the church on the right). IIRC, they were $3 per 1/4 lb.
MaryBeth, that chicken looks awesome. I love grilled peaches. Is that just peach jam you used as a sauce?
